if you are on 6.1 please try to search the default animation of xperia...then just use the filename of it into the one that you download here and drop on windows folder

please confirm the filename of the default xperia start-up animation for 6.1 and kindly post here...so that i can add instructions on the first post...try to find the .gif file in your windows folder...
Great work Myke..so much better than the boring windows job!! Anyway, I have 6.1 and have had some success but had to do it using a registry edit rather than a straight replacement as I found that the windows pic called "welcomehead.192" was write protected and I couldnt find a way arround renaming/moving/deleting it the same also with the sony splash (which I think was called "10v"). So instead I edited the "carrierbitmap" and the MSBitmap" to load your gif. These values were in "registry\HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Splash Screen"

So, when i reboot, I go straight from the SE logo to your gif and then to my today screen. One slight clitch though, is that when your gif replaces the experia splash screen it is animated, however when it reloads to replace the windows splash screen it is static....not a huge deal but it would be nice if it were animated in both. Any ideas anyone/

Okay people, I've been doing some research. Here's what it's like on HTC-Based ROMs. First of all, here's a quote:

... instead I edited the "carrierbitmap" and the MSBitmap" to load your gif. These values were in "registry\HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Splash Screen"
In normal ROMs, these can be changed to use a different animation, with any filename, as long as it's set here. For HTC-Roms, however, only "MSBitmap" is used. The order of appearance is always
1) Carrier Bitmap
2) MS Bitmap

MS Bitmap can not be animated. It's always a static image.

For HTC ROMs, the above Carrier Bitmap value is overruled by this key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation]
"StartupGif"="\\Windows\\startup1.gif"
"StartupWav"="\\Windows\\BootUpHTC.wav"

Logically, StartupGif replaces Carrierbitmap, and StartupWav adds (/replaces?) the default startup sound.

----

So, for a complete startup sequence on normal Roms, create an animated image for CarrierBitmap and a static image for MSBitmap.

For HTC-Based ROM's, an animated image for StartupGif, a static image for MSBitmap and a .wav sound for StartupWav.

Note that the .gif image only "plays" once. So the moving bar in Myke's gifs, will only pass by once. After that it's a still image.

Good luck!
