How did you get Nova Launcher working? I have the 8X Max and I'm unable to change the default launcher.

Forced to use the default launcher.

There you go. The only way is to disable Honor Launcher via ADB (WARNING: to enable it again you will have to reset your phone. MAKE SURE nova launcher or any other launcher is installed and operating before disabling Honor Launcher.)

you just install nova launcher
open settings and write in search default and from there choose default lancher and select nova launcher

I did it that way but system says critical error... Lawnchair launcher works but many others not.

Have you tried to give "storage" permission to the launcher?
