I want to be a minimalist but I can't figure out how to reduce the number of apps on my home screen. I've been looking for a way to determine what I use most, but I haven't found anything.I'm a minimalist at heart

Cool, thanks. I'll give it a try. I do use folders and then make the folders look like icons and also use the swipe to open a separate, but related, app, so it's a lot cleaner than it would be.

Nova launcher allows you to change them. You hold on an icon and a menu pops up. Go to edit and you can change the icon. There are a lot of icon packs available in the play store.
Decided to change things up since I've been running the same icon pack, wallpaper, and clock for a few years.
