Great

I connected to the net first to do my setup. Then enabled developer options, then enabled OEM and USB debugging. Then unlocked the bootloader. It all went perfectly without a hitch :good:
So if you connected to the internet after the setup you won't be able to unlock the bootloader even with the oem toggled.

that's interesting to know.

Thank you

I don't really think it matters which way you do it. That's just how I did mine. A Google branded phone, not Verizon version, should have no difficulties with unlocking the bootloader.

Just got a verizon pixel 2 xl from verizon themself and was able to unlock it even thought the stock opd3 firmware was not allowing me i did not activate nor did i put a sim and let it update to the newest and when it started back up i was able to unlock it.

if someone unlocked his bootloader on the pixel 2 xl the google version, i want to know this :

before you toggle the oem unlocking did you connect to internet during the setup or after the setup then you went to dev options and enabled the oem unlocking then performed the bootloader unlocking without problem ?

Thank you.

I take it we couldnt flash back to an older opd3 firmware and unlock because of the newer bootloader?

Is anyone having success still with the warranty replacements? Mine is genuinely having issues, and I was not sure if I should wait till after Im out of the 15 day exchange to get the new one with the google edition being possible.

I've tried all kinda things with the one that had to go back. I wish Android p preview could have been as an OTA so I could try and sideload that

You make-a no sense. Just a discussion, you know, in the discussion area. Im saying, I would normally not want a refurb device, Id go to the store and exchange in the 15 day return period, but with the likelyhood that I may end up with an unlocked one, I think its better for me to just wait it out and do a warranty exchange. Was just curious if anyone still had success, because if not, I may as well take my chances in store.

Holy shoot, not sure if I got lucky but Google just sent me a replacement Pixel 2XL for Verizon version, that is unlockable. I purchased the Verizon version from Craigslist, called Google to tell them about a Bluetooth issue I was facing, also told them I would love to have a Google variant of it. They said they'll only send a Verizon version back as a replacement. I received a Verizon version as a replacement as they promised. Then I called again about the screen issue and they sent another replacement, and to my surprise, I see that it's OEM unlockable! I right away rooted it. Gotta love Google!!!
