Because we live in a world where people want to force their opinion on you due to the fact that they're lonely and need the world to agree with them. Why do you think social medias thrive, because you can post a picture, get 100 likes and feel good
Wonderfully said ! So freaking true !! It's to bad few people will be able to understand the depth of what you're saying..........it's too bad cause it makes us loose time. Some people will come to argue here just to feel better and not because they really care about the rooting question. In reality they don't care at all so in fact they should just create an instagram account and post pictures with plenty of hashtags to get likes.............We want root here !!

I have always rooted every one of my devices dating back to my og. That said, it seems it's getting harder and harder to gain root on some of these new devices. Doesn't Xposed work on non rooted devices? If so, won't that along with a new launcher satisfy the craving for root? I'm asking because my next phone will probably be the V10 and I'm fearful root might not be gained.

just ordered the V10, coming from the Note 4, which only gained temporary root if you wanted to keep 4.4 instead of 5.x. I can tell you from experience that I thought not having root would be a deal breaker for me but quite the contrary. Without root, i really enjoyed the device without having to worry about wiping and flashing a new ROM every other day. Its not as much of a problem as it sounds, not having root.

For me its a pretty big problem. Now, bootloader unlock? I don't care. I don't really have time or interest anymore to flash ROM's, but I do find a ton of functionality in rooting my device and using the apps I've purchased that require root to use on my phone.

Hmph.

I'll say this. I have had my LG G3 for over a year and a half, that is longer than I have kept any phone since I began my Android venture with the G1. I had the G3 rooted for about 3 weeks. I have always had my devices rooted. I'll say this - though the option to root and unlock the bootloader would be very nice, I have found myself very fond of the LG UI - for a manufacturer UI skin, LG's takes the cake. Far less memory hungry than sense or TouchWiz, and the phone remains very snappy.

I have no need for root with the power of these devices now, the leaps and bounds in camera software, etc.

I think the software on these phones, while skin dependent can slow it down, has moved leaps and bounds past that of 3 years ago. There are some useful aspects of it. For instance, one major reason I and most others are looking heavily at this phone is the camera - well I have news for you if you didn't know - most of that is software driven, software that is not available on an AOSP based ROM. Sure, the phone might be a hair faster, but if you can't use the beautiful 16 MB camera on the back to it's full potential (The highlight of an amazing phone) is it even worth it?

Now, the answer might be yes to you, and it might even be a yes for me when I get the phone in my hands (if, lol), but I would bet that I am not alone in my stance, and I'm sure that there are others here that used to be flashaholics that no longer have a true need for it.

Of course, if you are using a Samsung device or HTC, sure I see a need because that OS skin is horrendous.

Cheers.
I think Sense is a lot better than LG UI or whatever they call it. I am not at all a fan of LG UI. I am pretty much Nexus fan boy. I just got the G4 and i can appreciate better screen and camera quality the over all experience of nexus is miles ahead. I really regret getting Note 5 just traded it in for g4 so at least my bill will be cheaper.

The one depressing thing I have noticed is that these days AOSP/CM roms don't play nice with oem phones outside of moto and HTC (and who knows how long HTC will stay in the game)

I also root to gain Wi-Fi tether. I'm on AT&T (unlimited data) and my son's Android tablet loves Internet when we are away from home. If other apps work (FoxFi?) then I'd use that, but in my experience FoxFi only works well when connected with cable to a PC/Mac.

Company Ui ranking for me best to worst for ones that I've used: moto ui- Sony xperia ui- LG ui- sense ui- then Samsung's color blinding hideous ui. I excluded stock ui since its obviously stock not because I hate or love it. All the UI I mentioned, I loved using except for the newest HTC ui and Samsung's hideous ui. I also don't really like the lg ui introduced with the g3. They should've left it as it was with the g2's ui

Root is an absolute must for me. If some of you don want it, that's fine. However it is definitely beneficial if you use Tasker and Xposed.
outside of Xposed and ROMs, root is not really needed anymore, not even for 75% of tasker profiles and not even for ad-blocking. I've installed adguard and it blocks most ads without root, which is amazing.
I wont lie - if root is achieved, i'll be rooting as well but I've used the Note 4 for the last year without root and i didnt miss it as much as i thought i would.

I mostly want root to restore apps/data with Titanium and rename/delete a few LG apks.

I guess I'd want Xposed also, but only so I can have long-press to change tracks using the volume keys. The second screen would make this less necessary but the long-press is great while driving and whatnot.

Yep. I actually pulled the plug from most social media a couple years ago. I still have a Google+ account, but that's for family and Android related stuff. Social media is a time raping monstrosity that offers no true fulfillment. I feel that a big chunk of society has become disattached from manual social interaction and the end result is much more emotionless physical interaction. We're basically turning in to a bunch of brain dead robots. Now, Im not saying that social media is the devil on every front....I'm just saying that we as human beings tend to take the road with the least resistance. This should never be the case with social interaction. It's supposed to be a little bit of a challenge to interact with other people. That way you appeciate all the little tidbits of person to person contact.

Live your life rationally....with true purpose. Now THAT is fulfillment. :)

Ok.....I'll get off my drama box now. Lol

Im sorry this is way off topic but post like these tend to grind my gears like no other topic can. I feel when people complain about social media are the one's that really have no clue on how to interact with it, they may be stuck in the old way. I for one use social media to keep in touch with friends far away, yet the biggest advantage of social media are the formation of groups. I am in a few car groups which allow us to form meets and plan events where we can have a blast. Thanks to social media I went to philly for a art show for an artist called gz1 (420 related) and meet a bunch of people. My mother uses social media to share photos, talk, plan, and many other things related to hiking.

I'm not knocking social media. I'm knocking abuse of social media. You clearly just skimmed my post and didn't read it in depth.

What I was saying is that a lot of people abuse it and treat it as if its the preferred way to socially interact (which is pathetic IMO). Social media is very useful in alot of different aspects and a lot of people couldn't make a living without it...but if you prefer to use social media over real life as a means interact with people on a personal level.......you have a f****ng problem.

Ok, let's get back on topic.
This thread is incredibly useless and is beating a dead horse. Might as well have some sort of stimulating conversation.
