I have bought several phones from Clove. They are highly reliable and customer service is excellent. This phone will work almost anywhere globally. It has an extensive list of band coverage. Do you have a GSM carrier? AT&T or T-Mobile? Will not operate on CDMA networks.

So it looks like the one from Clove will work on all bands in us for AT&T or T Mobile in US. You gain gain fingerprint scanner but loose warranty. Is that correct?
All correct except lose warranty. You have a UK warranty and must post your device to the UK service center for repair.

Thanks! I'm considering getting one from UK even though I'm in the US. My reasoning is US models won't have the fingerprint sensor active for whatever the reason. So I'd have to ship it back to the UK in the event of some kind of failure or just not have the fingerprint sensor active..... decisions.

If you buy the device in the US could you not flash a different region firmware to enable fingerprint sensor?

Yes, I suppose I could do that too, though preorders aren't available here yet. I guess I can wait until closer to release and see how things go. Really appreciate the advice.

P.S.- Also read that sailfish OS was going to be an option. Does anyone have any information about that? I really loved my old Nokia N9 with Meego.

I emailed them about the date. Let you know if I hear anything. I really doubt it's accurate.
Response from Unlocked Mobils:
Hi,
Thanks for your email. We are waiting for a Sony update, which is expected this week. Our team will then update customers directly with accurate ETAs

Thanks for your understanding.

Unlocked Mobiles

Guess we'll just have to wait and see. I'm thinking beginning of June, hopefully be surprised.

Looks like all the usual sites have nothing more than a brief hands on review, so June looks to be accurate - that way sony can start the marketing hype soon when the s8 hype starts to die down.

I'll also be checking out the Oneplus 5 before deciding which one to buy as it seems both phones might be released in June.

I messaged Clove to see what they had heard, as their website was still saying the first week of June - this is their reply...
Hello, thanks for this. I will pass it to our Sony rep as they only confirmed to us yesterday that stock should be the first week of June. From what I recall I think there is an official Sony pre-order campaign due to start on the 22nd (we can advertise some special offers on this date and any existing pre-orders will be upgraded to include it), however I highly doubt they can ship on this date

Ok, the plot thickens! I messaged unlocked-mobiles.com for clarification on their update and this is what they had to say...
Hi, thank you for your message. Sony will be delivering the phone through ourselves and other selected retailers, w/c 22nd May. Our date is not a press launch date. W/C 22nd May is when we have been told we will have stock. Kind regards UM

So mixed messages from unlocked-mobiles and Clove... will just have to wait for another update I guess!

I wouldn't be surprised either way. It's possible that one company gets theirs earlier, but usually it's just a few days difference. Thanks for all the updates!

i do not know about memory, but I do know that the phone does not support LTE band 30. So, if you plan on using it on AT&T, then you will not have complete functionality. if you live in the Northeast USA or San Fran, CA areas, you probably won't have carrier aggregation.

No CA is alot to miss on an $800 phone in 2017.

I'm in Texas, I'll have to check the bands... thought it was covered for all bands on AT&T. Thanks for the heads up.

Looks like you're correct about the missing band 30 for AT&T. My nexus 6 is also missing that band and I've had no issues. Download and data performance have been identical to my AT&T phones here in Texas. Think I'm going to proceed with the preorder.
