Looks like you're correct about the missing band 30 for AT&T. My nexus 6 is also missing that band and I've had no issues. Download and data performance have been identical to my AT&T phones here in Texas. Think I'm going to proceed with the preorder.

three things:

1) AT&T announced yesterday the release of "5G Evolution" in the Austin, TX area. supposed to get 400 Mbps speeds. that tech will be rolled out to 20 other cities in 2017.

2) there was a discussion on this website https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/help/sm-g955f-sm-g955fd-att-lte-band-30-t3595396 about the issue on samsung phones. ShreckOpher shared his experience with this same issue.

3) hopefully you will post your experiences as otherwise, the phone, on paper, looks fantstic.

-ATT isn't really launching true 5g from what I've read:

-The 30 band is only in certain areas and there are other bands available if you don't have it in those areas. I suppose it was left of the Sony phones because it's and "only ATT USA band" and not used internationally. Even the Xperia XZs available in the US doesn't have it as well as my ATT phones from about a year and a half ago.

For me, these aren't' reasons to not grab one.

Has anyone heard anything else from unlocked cells? Are they shipping on 5/22/2017? Seems like they'd be the earliest available that I've been able to find.

I've considered purchasing one through Unlocked Cells as they have stated nearly a week earlier than anyone else. Two things are holding me back:
-How accurate their arrival/shipping time is.
-Like you, wonder how long the importing process will take.
I'm going to wait a little closer to launch and see if any further details will develop.

Anyone have any experiences they could share about them?

Don't think they're being weird, it's just that Sony haven't yet given us a release date. Once a date has been officially given then they'll open up preorders soon after.

Took the plunge and pre-ordered from Unlocked Mobiles in the UK. They're targeting 5/22 for receiving of initial order. Opted for shipping 1-2 days to the states via FedEx. Shows "processing" as the order status. I'll update with any additional info.

Nice one! I'm just hesitating to pull the trigger until we hear a bit more about battery life (and a bit more about the Oneplus 5). What colour did you go for?

Yes, I agree on battery life is definitely a concern with that screen, but I decided to go for it after searching around . I found a site that tested battery life unofficially. It was in Japanese (maybe?) Google had to translate. Anyhow, they ran video and such and it very well. The Snap Dragon 835 doesn't overheat and efficiency are much improved. I've also seen in the various videos of the phone the option to adjust the screen resolution. Guess we'll see.

I went with the Chrome one.

Just noticed unlocked-mobiles have changed their preorder date to 2nd June - I suspected they were not going to be allowed to release it early! The chrome option has also disappeared - martin042068 have you had any emails about change of order status?
