I've had a screen protector on the pre-installed screen protector of my X10 for over 2 years. It is only like 2 weeks ago I found out there actually wa a pre-installed screen protector :p
It never bothered me in the least.

For me.. The sensitivity problem is more of hitting the right part..

As of the screen protector.. I installed one on top of the other.. Anti reflection one.. Really fits!

I've taken mine off, it leaves the screen sticky from the glue but once that's removed I prefer it. The hardware buttons are more responsive now and my finger slides over the screen nicer.

Praise XDA devs!

Boys you really made my day! I have my Xs since last Saturday and there WAS an ugly scratch, I don't even know how that could happen an was really frustrated cause my old Desire( I have it since first day of release has absolutely no scratches at all without SP) but yeeesssss there is a screen protector pre-installed, after removing that thingy it feels so smooth! Thanks guys for spreading this info!

Silly me!! I got a protector over the pre-installed one, double protection, that's why it feels so strange.

The phone shop that I bought my XPS sucks. They insisted that I put on a "professional screen protector" right after handling me the phone, RIGHT AT THE SHOP. Silly me to believe them!!!

Sony recommends putting a screen protector over the shatter protector, nothing wierd about that.

For those not sticking to the pre-factory-applied screen protector, what are you using?

Looking for casing as well, any websites with reviews for them?

Every sony product i bought in the last few years had one; x10, arc, arc s, tablet s, xperia s.
I dont think it is a bad thing but the screen from my asusntransformer just has gorilla glass and no sxreen protector,(no one needed) feels smoother,

Just to let you know almost any sony has one altough you cant see it

They DO!

The official Sony line, is that the scratch proof screen is covered in a non-scratch proof anti-shatter laminate sheet. This is NOT the top layer intended. You are then supposed to put a screen protector over this laminate sheet. One is included in the box bit it is an absolute b*tch to put on without air bubbles. The laminate sheet is glued down. It will come off but it will leave a residue that is not easy to get off. A second layer screen protector just bonds through natural adhesion rather than a glue.

Sony employees on the sony mobile forums told another story. Also an extra screen protector is not included in the box in every country. For example the box in.the Netherlands doesn't have one.

The link above to the Sony mobile forums says the same story as Sony UK said and I have just repeated. I think there is some confusion here but I am not sure exactly how it is being interpreted. Just because the extra protector is not included in the box doesn't mean its not recommended....just they were not so generous in that country! :)

The extra screen protector is a different shape to the laminate sheet already on the phone.

Personally I think its stupid to have two layers. It will reduce further the touchscreen responsiveness. The real issue is that Sony didn't use Gorilla glass. This meant they needed to put a laminate sheet over their own glass. If they had chosen a glass like Gorilla which is already suitably treated not to shatter, then this mess and confusion wouldn't arise.

I have Always used the extra protector on the laminated sheet both on the x10 and Arc and still find the screen response well.
