why no root?

Hello

i thought this was a rooted flashable.
i was on KK, rooted, with dual recoveries.
i then flashed this and .. no root .. no recoveries. it turns out i must downgrade by erasing all to root.

what is going on?
what did i do wrong?

i flashed R4C version
