Figured that much.. This is a hard decision for me.. Ive always had black or gray phones. I wanted to switch it up this time and go with white. From what I know right now TMo will only carry the metallic gray and brown leather.. So if I were to switch it up I'd have to go with the leather. Only issue there is I've become very reliant on the quick circle case for my G3.. Obviously I'd have to pass on the case or hope they release an official replacement type leather case which at that point would be pointless to buy the leather up front.. Except.. The face on the brown leather is black which I like better than the gray.. The button color is gold which if I were to get a different plastic back to use the quick circle on I'd pretty much have to get gold to match.. Man I love and hate these options, wish they wouldn't be so damn secretive..

I have done many colors and most recent was white so I opted to not go white but "metallic grey" (since leather is not a preorder VZW option). I think the white is super good looking, I just needed a change.
My "goal" is to get the plastic back and then in the future, buy the leather color I want as I like the Tmobile tan and the black. As for matching the buttons... it will just be a lost cause as I see it - but the grey buttons from metallic grey is somewhat neutral. As for charging, I intend to just get stickers when they come out and activate the Qi charging - I don't want charging to be limited to the case, I want it to be part of the phone so I will go with the sticker that will surely come.

My only problem with buying the plastic first is I'm stuck with a gray front.. I really like the black front better.. My G2 was black and my 3 was gray. Hopefully I'm wrong and TMo will have the white up front, but I doubt it. What I'm thinking is I'll get the leather and then find a gold back and a gold circle case.. Dude this is driving me crazy.. I put less thought into what I wear.
I need a new phone so bad, I needed to get on it and with preorder open at Best Buy for VZW they only had 3 options: white, M grey, blue. So, I had to pick as I need the phone ASAP and that means june 4th pickup.
Part of me knows how this game works out - I buy now and in 1-2-3 weeks these SOBs will release a new color not originally released, but I am already locked in at that time. But, I need to buy and get on with it and so grey seemed neutral enough I could also source out my leather back color of choice when more options pop up on the web to buy. Also, if by chance between now and June 4th pickup at Best Buy Verizon puts up their direct order options (or Amazon does for Verizon) I will cancel my Best Buy and buy elsewhere IF IF IF those options include a leather option. But at this stage, all I see is plastic for Verizon as Best Buy is the only one with Verizon options. Oh, and BTW, with the $100 gift card from Best Buy it pretty much buys my leather back for me when what I want in leather color comes available.
I really hope T-Mobile is added to the Best Buy list. I really would jump at this phone with a $100 gift card...

Here is a guy that took the metallic grey (what I ordered) and Photchopped some different leathers on it to see the button + leather combo options against those button colors.
I like the white with the gray.. I think that's what I would do. I don't know about the gray with brown leather especially with the gray front too. I am on Verizon and know I want to end up with the brown leather back, but was disheartened that Best Buy or Verizon Wireless is not selling the brown leather as an option at this point of time. So did that photo editing to get an idea if I would like the metallic gray with the different backs or not. On T-mobiles site, the G4 with brown leather comes with gold buttons / camera housing. Which does blend in perfectly with the brown leather.
Also, one HUGE thing to note is that the front of the phone only comes in one color. No matter what color of back or leather option you get, the front of the phone will always have that black diamond pattern. I was originally going to order a white G4 and and try out the brown leather down the road. But after I noticed that, figured there was not much of a point.

Yeah I saw your post on Droid Life (long time reader there as well as Phandroid) so I felt it was applicable to this thread on XDA. You're new here, but days ago I posted up - the day of the BB preorder release - that so far it is looking like NO leather for Verizon. And yes, having only one color front does make things easier. I think the metallic gray seems to be a good "neutral" color to go with that will work with all the other different leather and plastic color backs. I also noticed that all the different colors for the G4 Leather backs are available on Ebay if you are willing to pay that price for them. I'm sure once the phone actually releases and backs become more readily available that the price will drop.
I read somewhere on some forum that someone asked a Best Buy employee about them having different backs for sale when G4 gets released and the BB employee said they would. But I don't really believe BB employees much when it comes to cell phone stuff.
On a side tangent.... I did notice that when I pre-ordered the Verizon G4 from Best Buy, that it kept my existing unlimited data plan! I chose to ship the phone to me because I was going to use my existing SIM card to keep unlimited data, but now I'm not sure if I even need to. If I use the new SIM card, I wouldn't have to worry about having that switch order pending on my account I think? But going to wait till i physically have the phone and read the paperwork I get to make sure they don't pull a fast one on me.
Yeah I just realized that the fronts are all black. That does make it a little easier. I do like the brown leather with the gold buttons, but unless they come out with a leather quick circle it would be pointless.. Well.. ok... now did you see this? A leather from T-Mobile that DID come with a leather and plastic back. So maybe those early rumors were true.
I thought that was from the Netherlands.. Either way I'm going with the gray..
Yes, so it seems.. but the rumor was never tied to a country specific release. So it still seems to then be true. Maybe not in USA - but not everyone here is USA - but like I said, the rumors never made that dual cover inclusion country specific.

Damn.. I almost wonder if I should have done Verizon Best Buy shipping versus pick up as it seems people getting shipping are getting earlier actual deliveries than what the preorders quoted. Preorders quoted on Best Buy showed earlier phone acquisition with pickup, now I am seeing people already getting shipping notices and shipping info. Maybe not for Verizon per se, but still.... people that opted to get shipping might in fact get it sooner than store pickup despite the dates given
I thought preordering from Best Buy meant that you had only a pick up option? I'd love to have them ship as well. I'd suggest keeping the old SIM card though, it gets complicated going through the loopholes to keep unlimited data (I'm trying to keep mine as well)'

Interestingly enough, when I purchased this case it had no mention of compatibility with the leather backed versions. I even emailed them asking but received no response. The description now says it is not compatible, however, I am using it and have the tan leather back version.
