Hi, I have been describing on another thread how my HDX 7" is pretty much bricked. Amazon have offered to do a refurbed one at a discount price but I will have to return mine. Question is how can I be sure that all of the info, docs, pictures of my kids etc have been rendered inaccessible too? can I do anything that will give me this peace of mind? I had some work documents, account spreadsheets etc on there!

Looks like your tablet is working again based on discussions in the other thread. However, if your device was bricked there is no reasonable way of wiping the contents with a locked bootloader and stock recovery. Amazon likely has a procedure for insuring returned devices are 'sanitized' but a careless or rogue employee could likely sidestep the process. If your work is highly sensitive you probably shouldn't be using this device unless the contents are encrypted. Both FireOS and ASOP offer device encryption but I'm no sure how comprehensive that is (eg: does it encompass the contents of cache and/or bits and pieces of user info that get written to the system partition?).
