No need for a hands free activation, you can do as you mentioned and just go into your update PRL from Settings and get it done that way to get back to your 'stock' PRL.

From my experience, disabling data first will cause this to stick more times than not.

As another guy said, use Google to search for the anycut apk and you can create a shortcut that way. It's listed as 'PRL Write' within the app. Once you do this, you can just click that shortcut, hit the button and the phone will reboot. Not a big time saver, but one nonetheless depending on how often you're planning on using this.

If you use the 00001.prl (VZW only) it will show up as '1' in 'About Phone'. The preceeding 0's are omitted for some reason.

For me personally it's the only one I use as Sprint doesn't have a roaming agreement with VZW in Chicago, so if I have a bad signal, this is my only choice.

For those of you just changing a PRL to enable 3G data when you roam, let's say naturally, you probably won't need to revert back at all. In that case, just freeze System Update so Sprint doesn't roll you back after a day or two.
So then from what I understand we only hop on Verizon network when actually roaming? And using their prl let's us use 3G vs 1X. If this is correct is there a way for me to force roaming to stay on?

Follow instructions in op. From my experience on the og evo, the prl was never reverted back on its own unless I updated the prl manually. Idk about this Samsung gs3 though.

Try turning on airplane mode and then turn it off again. As soon as you turn it off try to run the prl update before you reconnect too service. I use anycut so it works instantly every time

Has anyone on a family plan been kicked off of sprints network for roaming? Do they just remove the the one line or all lines? Tia

They just remove the one line. Dont roam over 800 minutes voice and use more sprint data than roaming and your good to go

Flashing zips in rehab!!

I've used the anycut method and has the same issue, it's probably me, I'll try to be quick and try to get that method to work once I'm done downloading this jellybean leak from Myn and Clark, thanks...

I just got it working after like 100 attempts. I turned off data mode (but left voice/text on), used anycut to get to prl write, then wrote it and it worked.

Anyway I have two questions:

1. If you get kicked off for too much data roaming there is no ETF right?
2. If you get kicked off (assuming there is no ETF) do they blacklist the ESN of your phone from the network or anything?
3. I'm assuming your number won't be portable after the boot?

I'm getting real tired of Sprint's data speeds. I plan on using the VZW prl. I only use like 1.5-2gb a month but depending on the answers above I don't care if I get the boot. Straight Talk is looking good to me.

1. No you would not have an ETF.
2. They shouldn't blacklist the phone- I've never heard of this being the case, only for reported thefts and maybe some rare other circumstances.
3. If you got booted without notice then porting your number may be an issue, but most of the time you first get warned about it and then if you continue to do it they typically send a letter or call you telling you they are terminating your service with them on ''x'' date- usually it's within 30-60 days.

Newer Sprint plans may have different terms, but I talked with a Supervisor a while back when I setup a shared everything data plan, and I was told I would only get flagged on my account if I my roaming data was more than half of my total used data on Sprint's network or my calling minutes.

For example, if I used 4gb of data while connected to Sprint for the month and 100 minutes of talk time, then I ''should'' be fine if I stay under 2gb and 50 minutes while roaming. I still think that'd be pushing it or I just feel like playing it safer and try to keep it a lower ratio, and I use a lot of data it seems a month, but hardly any of my monthly minutes.

Last month, I used around 23gb of data, and less than 200 anytime talk minutes. I probably had around 1gb of data and maybe a handful of talk minutes that were on roam.

I'm probably more at risk for them trying to boot me for excessive data, but I'm not doing stuff like excessive teathering, only using that here or there and nothing more than like 500mb. So I don't see how they would if they are specifically advertising and promoting unlimited data as the primary advantage of having service with Sprint.

Cool. I'm just going to use the 00001 PRL and keep using WIFI when it is available. If Sprint takes issue with it, then whatever I don't care. If they let me keep doing it, then I have fast 3G until LTE reaches me and I don't care either way it works out.

I write ny prl by using any cut. I create a prl write short cut and rename the prl to test.prl . Might be simpler no msl required

I've never changed PRL's or used anycut... How did you set your's up? I just flashed the latest one.. but your's is probably more convenient
