Problem sending sms

i just recieved my X1 today ^^

i'm very happy about many many things but ... it seams that it doesnt want to send sms :s

i try to "answer" a friend's sms and the phone tell me that's impossible and there is no more explanation...

i havent installed any software, pluggins, panels or whatever yet.


and since this is my new phone i was hopping it can recieve(yes i can read sms friends send me) AND send sms!!

plz someone help me

Does your phone plan allow you to send SMS?

no i can't send sms. same error message :s

ok now i've search through the properties i found the thing that makes the sms sending to fail.

start menu
-> properties : connexions table
-> advanced network : sms service table
-> sms on field
-> select prefered GSM

and now i can send sms.

before i select "prefered GSM", "GPRS" was selected



so this thread can be marque as resolved
thx for paying attention to my problem.


P.S: not quite intuitive... :s

Hi, thanx for the help. but i can't find the start>properties ?????
When i click start, it gives following items (as factory default settings on hard reset)

Calender
Contacts
File Explorer
Getting Started
Programs
Settings
Help

I've tried the "Voice mail and SMS > Get Settings" thing a hundered times, also my service provider was also unable to pull this off . I also tried to get this mess cleared by hard reset and again setting up the things in Comm. Manager. My control panel is also not working in file explorer>My Device>windows>crtlpl. so i can't find a away to fix this without installing a patch or cab etc. can you express in detail your trick....coz i-mates are damn to easy to be delt with while this SEX1 is a pain!

go to setting>personal>phone>band
change it from auto to gsm.try to send sms then

Already tried this, didn't work. Tried the Shell also but it was useless too. I also tried the gsm manual option but i wont work.....may be my cellphone doesn't have the ability
I hope that there is a problem with my service center or else my money is

Manual GSM and Band width works!!!!!!!

It worked!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks manisha, I selected the GSM manual but i forgot to select the band width......for my country it was GSM 900/1800 while i left the option for the auto
I just tried and all my msgs sent in just seconds and now getting replys......THX alot
