I know this may sound silly but could this problem be as simple as power cycling your router? or, is your router set to support only a certain range of broadcasting, like 5 ghz? I know a lot of people were having trouble last year connecting to newer routers set for higher frequency than the Rom they were on could support.
edit:also, the ajk kernels from the main OP thread do download fine, and the md5 checks fine too, but I believe when they were doing work on server side transferring files they corrupted aj's kernels, because they always give me a bad (installation aborted) message. However, there are links in post 4180 I think it is for new downloads to the kernels in his thread.

I'm not sure if this tells you anything or not:

any idea for the fix on the soft keys not working properly? Happened as soon as it booted after the AJ kernel installed. Restarted phone several times, same problem.

Yes, because you just flashed the boot.img with Mobile Odin, and didn't get the parts that are in the directories. You need to go back into recovery and flash the full AJK 4.9 ns zip file in clockwork mod. This info was in the previous post.

There's nothing better than posting at the exact same time as you, only to realize the method I prescribed was more complicated than it needed to be. Thank you, sir!

Ok, flashed the kernel from clockwork, rebooted. Definitely fixed the keys. Thanks so much for that.

Wireless issue : happened to be in Barnes & Noble, connected to the wireless no issues. So it looks like it's a specific issue with my router that none of my other devices are having and only happened since I modified this phone from it's previous rom. Any ideas?

On the topic of new roms: In theory I assume I should be able to put a Rom compatible with this phone onto the sd card and flash like normal. That being said would any rom off of xda for this phone ( say this beautiful thing right here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2076718 ) ? Or is there a list of specialized roms that will now only work given what I have just gone throught?

I'm especially nervous to proceed given the previous ordeal.

You should be able to flash any I777 rom, and definitely the one in your link. Follow the instructions in the OP of the firmware you are flashing. Also, some people like to use mr-cooks rom wipe script before flashing a new rom. Just be careful to follow his instructions.

The August build of SUPERNEXUS 3.0 contains 4.3 bugs that have been ironed out of other more stable and mature 4.3 ROM's (like CM 10.2, AOCP 6.x, Carbon). Although I love the vanilla AOSP feel of Supernexus, I steer folks clear of this one because until more recent commits are cooked-in, this particular firmware build may be more trouble than it's worth.

I'm especially nervous to proceed given the previous ordeal.
Take your time, read all of the OP before you begin (not JUST the installation instructions), and follow the instructions. Making up your own rules can quickly land you in trouble.

Happy flashing

Cyril's right - I'd avoid the 3.0 version of SuperNexus, but you should be fine with the older 2.0 (based on 4.2.2) that you linked to originally. Speaking from a personal preference, I found that Slimbean 8.1 was far more stable than SuperNexus, but whichever route you decide to go make sure you understand the necessary flashing steps.

And don't be afraid to ask questions.

Well, thanks for everyone's help. I got it up to the rom and suddenly the cache corrupted, wouldn't read the sd card, the whole nine. So I took it back to stock from step one and took it all the way back to Jelly bean then Odin lite, the kernel, backed up, flashed the illusion rom and it is good to go. Wireless suddenly started to work after an hour for no apparent reason. Everything's back to good and girlfriend is no longer mad at me. Thanks again everyone!
