Anyone here using their DHD with a Parrot CK3100 bluetooth carkit?

When making or receiving a call, 90% of the times the process com.android.phone crashes at the end of the call. Then my network connection is lost briefly and restored after a while. The BT connection is also lost and needs to be reconnected manually. This only happens when connected with the Parrot, not when calling normally or over my Jawbone BT headset.

Is anyone experiencing the same or using a Parrot CK3100 without problems?

The dhd updates , I would also make sure the parrot updates are done also.

Silly question but you don't use a task killer do you ? Sometimes a task killer stops the blue tooth session .

Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App

I had to repair, cause all pairings were gone from the parrot.

So you have the same ck3100?

Do you have any contacts with picture that you can call with the parrot without problems? I'm wondering if those pictures are the culprit.

I've tried a couple dozens of phone calls to contacts with and without picture. I can confirm the com.android.phone process only crashes when calling a contact with picture through the Parrot. :-(

Ok,I'll try to add a picture to one of my contacts and test and let you know. How do you know that this process crashes? seen on display or do you use any logging app?

I photographed my wife and called her from my car 2-3 times without any problems. I tried to let her end the call 1st then I did and then I initiated the call from Parrot. No problems similar to what you describe.

How did you add your photo's? maybe the picture format causes the problem? If you haven't done so, why don't you try what I did and compare (take photo from camera and test).

Also, do you use google contacts or phone contacts. If you have seen one of my posts, I had problems when sync with google. So , try also to compare a phone contact with picture and a google contact with picture. I think that this is the only way to reach a conclusion as I did with the ringtones and blocked callers issue.

Now, unless you used some special app to see that process, I didn't see anything strange. Tell me if there's any place to look for any errors.

My Parrot FW is 4.23_C

Hi, Thanks for looking into it so extensively!

Just some more info:
- all my contacts are Google, I like the syncing to gmail. I'll try with phone contacts to see if that works out.
- I have contacts with pictures from my previous phone, from my Fuji finepix camera and a contact with a picture that comes automatically from Facebook. I'll try to add one with the HD's camera.
- the error message pops up on the screen, you can't miss it. Then the gsm signal is briefly lost and so is the BT connection.

I'll report back!

Hello,

I've the same problem with my Desire. Also an Downgrade to 4.21 of the CK3100 hasn't brought a solution. But the Parrot-Support wrote me that there is a general Problem with Froyo-phones, so I'm looking forward to that a new firmware will come, hopefully, soon...

Well, Parrot support has been great so far. They have made me try a couple of different ways of pairing my device with the Parrot. In the end, my problem is solved my using a special paring mode. I go to Advance settings > Pair phone > and choose for the "Auto-pair no sync" option. No more crashing of the phone process on my Desire HD since.

Basically, the problem wasn't caused by the phone call, but by the syncing of the contacts between the DHD and the Parrot. Everytime syncing starts in the background, the process would crash. Presumably this is caused by having contacts with pictures.

The downside is that my phonebook isn't synced anymore with the Parrot (with the Auto-pair no sync option). But hey, I'd never call anyone from the Parrot phone book anyway, I always use the phone to start a call. So that's no big deal.

Maybe, removing all contact pictures would solve the problem too, but I'm not willing to try that.

In the whole process, I upgraded my Parrot CK3100 firmware from v4.17 to v4.23, but that's causing different problems now. I'm still waiting for Parrot support to send me 4.17 back, so I can downgrade.

Thanks for the update.

No sync solved the problem for me too. I tried to send the contacts to the parrot manuelly and then started a phone call from the car kit. The contact has a picture (which I didn't sync with the parrot) and the phone process didn't crashed!

That should indeed work. It's the continuous auto syncing that causes the crashes. A one time manual sync of contacts after pairing shouldn't cause any problems later on.
