Hello, I'm using a usb touch screen with hk1 box. After flash 12.2 pie I find that the touch screen didn't work. It worked with original firmware, is there any way to support it by slimbox? I like the feel of pie but touch screen is more important.

The touch part of my screen is 'Multi-Touch by G2TSP'.

Good luck!
Don't believe everything you read those are just APKs compiled\packed with developer software , they're being falsely flagged as malware.

You will not find a posted image with them removed at the official site. IMHO

Hello,
I'm also curious about the ROM security, so I did try to use multiple Anti-virus applications to scan the Slimbox TV box Pie build, and here are the results:

A) Risk: They all reported with risk like ADB USB debugging enabled, and reported the ROM being rooted. But that's understandable for a custom ROM.

B) Threat: Here are the differences:

Sophos Intercept X for Mobile
No problem found after scanning the application

Malwarebytes:
Threat found with 5 APKs in the folder:
Trojan name: Android/Trojan.Boogr.gsh

/mnt/sdcard/Installer_slimBOXtv/Dolby.apk
/mnt/sdcard/Installer_slimBOXtv/Miracast.apk
/mnt/sdcard/Installer_slimBOXtv/Delete_Vaiper_and_Dolby.apk
/mnt/sdcard/Installer_slimBOXtv/Xbox_PS3.apk
/mnt/sdcard/Installer_slimBOXtv/AptX_HD.apk

Note: I believe these APKs were not yet installed during default factory state. As I inspected the Application list carefully, I did not seem to locate any App installed resembling to the functionality implied by the name of the APKs.

Avast Anti-virus & AVG Antivirus:
Threat report:

a) Strangely, it did not report any threat with the above 5 APKs listed in the Malwarebytes scanning result.

b) Instead, it reported another 5 apps with Malware

Google App for Android TV
Backdrop
LeanKey Keyboard Pro
Autostart
Soul Browser

- however, Avast / AVG antivirus did not state the name of malware, and when I tried to look up more information by clicking the 3-dot colon button, it reached a website stating Connection Refused:

connection_refused.png

============

That's about as far as I can find after scanning the Slimbox TV Pie ROM with a couple of anti-virus program. It would seem that AVG and Avast are sharing the same virus signature database / scanning algorithm -- apart from this: no single App / APK are identified by 3 different Anti-virus vendors to be infected with the same Malware.

Hence, the theory that it appears a few Android App / APKs were flagged as false positive may hold some water.

Further research may need to be conducted, for eg. if Avast ipm-provider web page starts to show more info on why it flagged those apps as malware. Until then, the result is not yet conclusive.

I think you are paranoid. That's not a good condition to have while trying custom ROMS in non certified android boxes. I mean...if you afraid of catching virus you should not use anything that can identify you on this boxes. I don't know why people try it.

Anyway, paranoid aside, nothing is safe. And those apps malwarebytes claims they are malware is probably due to the fact that all of them have a vulnerability which is running at boot with root privileges. Any app that has root privileges without asking is a vulnerabillity and malwarebytes thinking about your safety (LIE) flag it cause they care.

Just out of curiosity, did you try using malwarebytes with your own android chinese box stock firmware? Cause if you do you will be even more paranoid!! Given stock firmware came with kodis installed and other stuff...

Even Xiaomi Mi Box s has stuff there in the system apps that should scare you!!!

If you look up the error code of those five APKs reported by malwarebytes you will find it's a generic error claiming the software used to pack the APK files could be used to harm your product.

That's all it will say. If you submit those five files to virus total to see if they find a virus, I bet they'll come back clean.

The fact that nobody has done that or nobody has came back with a definitive virus in those five files after 8 months it's been reported here means more than likely those files are clean..

Otherwise we'd have all kinds of reports on here with infected boxes.

they are all at slimbox.ru site under patches section, here:

I've tested them all and virustotal gives me 7 detections, still bitdefender and adaware doesn't detect it...

Windows microsoft defender detects it as trojan. Well we all know why, these are propeietary software which you need to pay to have it, you know that? Ofc they will be detected by microsoft!!!

Dolby is a paid software as viperfx and all the others, so in order for it to be installed they need to break some certifications which make them detectable by microsoft.

Now, are they harmfull for you? It depends!!! If you have your android box completly isolated from your local network and even if coonected on your local network, make sure your other devices have shares disabled and you are fine!!!

Tbh this is should be your "default" behaviour!!!

Hello,

I tried to install Slimbox on my X96Air 4/32.

This box seems to have other hardware.
It has an AM7256 Wifi Controller which seems not installed on Slimbox

is there any solution?

Can't figure out how to turn off virtual keyboard from popping up on screen. I use a hardware keyboard and don't need the built in feature.
Any help appreciated.

Why are you spamming the whole thread with multiple messages? You can still edit your first one :)
That said, I think it is very easy to buy a male-to-male USB cable in a shop or online, unless you live in a very remote area.

That's not a firmware problem dude, you need to go to the network connection issues department...
    2
Well, 13 is unlucky number, so no slimbox v13 :p

14 is out but on beta i'm afraid. You should wait, go 12.2.
I took my x96Max Plus2 from 10.4 to 14 and so far all is well.

Just had to change a few settings that were hard to find. My keyboard had Russian charters, tried everything to find the bad setting, than finally found the correct setting in the notifications list about keyboard setup.

I had an issue with app drawer putting all the icons up and down the right side of the screen when I returned to the home screen. So I disabled app drawer. But that was after I had installed app starter. As that's the one I like. So it was minor issue but I never had this issue before.

It fixed my G30s voice remote mic to work, not only with Google assistance but in each app that supports it. That's what I really wanted.

It fixed my issue with playing ac3 5.1 on my old tv with only two speakers. The box finally down mixes to stereo.

The only problem I have is this box always had low audio output volume, I always had viper4androidFX installed so I guess a will still need that. I see Dolby is an option also but not sure if that can increase audio gain like viper.
If anyone knows please let me know before I try install and then remove it to find out.

Thank SlimHouse for this great firmware.

Hi @SlimHouse, please could you tell me which firmware will suit on my Beelink GT1?
    Here is the device specs:
    CPU Amlogic S912
    2GB DDR3 RAM
    16 GB ROM
    QC9377 Wi-Fi chip
    1Giga LAN
    Board G912

Do Tronsmart Vega S96 or Mecool BB2 will work?
    Thank you!

    ----edit-----

I flashed Pie firmware for Ugoo AM3 as suggested in post #858 and everything is good apart a weird error message spamming in matlog:

    MesonHwc
Too many layers need CURSOR_PLANE, skip.

I had some problem in using the mouse to enable options on some apps, while using the remote control everything is fine.
    Any hint?
    1
With Ugoos AM3 FW you have not get any issue?
    No.
    Try these steps:
-install flashtool and drivers while the tvbox is switched on and connected to the PC.
-once installed drivers, start flashtool and switch TV box off and remove it from PC.
-load firmware on flashtool and click on start.
-put TV box in recovery mode pushing the hidden switch while inserting the USB in your PC.
-flash process will start and much likely it will stop at 1%. Insert power supply plug in the TV box and the flash process will start again by itself.

If you get some error, try using another USB port either on the PC or the box.

I have found out how to root SlimRom with Magisk:

    1. Root SlimRom via the settings
Then you will have "Superuser" rooting.

    2. Install TWRP
You don't need to, but you can install your TWRP image permanently via the TWRP app:

    3. Extract boot.img
You need to extract "boot.img" in TWRP:
    Code:
    cat /dev/block/boot > /sdcard/boot.img

    4. Patch the stock boot.img with Magisk manager app
    Install Magisk manager apk.
Press the upper install button and select the stock boot.img.
Magisk will create a patched boot.img.

    5. Now unroot in SlimBox settings

    6. Flash the patched boot.img in TWRP by selecting install, then image, then choose the file, to "boot"

    7. Finally flash Magisk.zip in TWRP

    Thats it.
    4
    3. Extract boot.img from stock firmware
You need to have a stock rom for your device.
Ideally a zipped rom, so that you can extract the "boot.img" out of it.

In case you have an img-file, than you need to extract "boot.img" out of it via Amlogic toolkit:

By this you can extract the stock boot.img from the stock firmware.

This is only good for android 7 images, Android 9 (which most people are using) is totally different.
To root slimbox you only need patch the current boot.img
    In twrp :
    cat /dev/block/boot > /sdcard/boot.img

Then use magisk to patch the img

    Reboot to twrp

Flash the patched boot.img to boot.

    Reboot

I tried out all the Netflix APKs found in this link http://freeaddons.free.fr/public/AML/X96AIR/Apps Apk/Netflix/

They are all the mobile version of Netflix. I have found a working Android TV version of Netflix if the person who manages that link wants to upload it.
