I have one more 2-part question. Does this root method exploit the stock recovery/bootloader? Will it support custom bootloaders/recoveries such as safestrap.

just bad luck

I have been watching this closely... Finally had to register and say something. I used to have a rooted Note 1 and loved it. I hadn't had a phone for a long time and got this one a while ago. I have tried to no end to root this damn thing but no success. I finally came to realise that I seemingly ended up buying the worst version of the note 3 possible. I bought a US note 3 rather than a Canadian one because the prices were way better, but now I'm kicking myself in the ass for buying Verizon's. Really wish I had done some homework first :(

I'll be watching and waiting with baited breath. This is driving me nuts.

Wow...just thought I'd check in and see what was new...possible root for 5.0? Wasn't expecting to see that!

Still skeptical...if it will be released gratis anyway, why not share the exploit methodology...but who knows. Guess we will find out on March 15!

Same. I found out that Amazon Fire TV was very recently able to be rooted again, so thought I'd check in to see if the Note 3 has been resurrected as well.

March may be a good month, but I do not want to give my hopes up... *As he looks at all of his purchased apps that require root*

I'm attempting to patiently wait for this exploit. It seems like someone who actually achieved root access would want to publish their finding immediately. I think the case here is they "think" they found a root exploit, and are possibly scrambling to release it to the public on the 15th, either that or it's fake. I'm personally researching possible root exploits in my free time, because I'm extremely doubtful that root access has been achieve on 4.4.4+. The youtube video proves absolutely nothing. Honestly I'll be somewhat surprised if this is legitimate. Here are some ideas I'm investigating in the meantime:

1) Inject su and SuperUser.apk into the sparse ext4 format system.img.ext4 from the odin package
2) If someone has a rooted N900V and is on 4.4.4 NJ6 firmware, please do a raw dump of your full system partition, and post it. I may be able to convert to a pre-rooted odin package
3) Find unused executable from system.img.ext4 (in sparse format), find the offset of the unused executable in the sparse image, and directly replace the binary data of the executable with the binary data of su (replaced e2fsck with su executable (zero padded to match size of e2fsck), haven't been able to successfully flash with ODIN yet, still investigating what aboot checks that is causing it to fail)
4) NJ6 is running Kernel version 3.4.0, I'm sure there are quite a few Linux exploits which work on Kernel version 3.4.0 and lower.

Certainly doesnt add confidence that the two people posting about releasing this have about 20 combined posts on XDA...

The countdown is on...
In fairness to them, they apparently are quite active on a Yemen android forum. English doesn't appear to be their native language. We shall see in about 15 days if they deliver as promised.

Definitely they did the root and the root process took a lot of their time.
And they did it to add Arabic language to the phone and also another guy from the same team did the root of Verizon note 4 yesterday.

It takes some time to make their work free for all.
Just some patience.

I definitely understand the time involved with their work. What I'm referring to is that the video shows a fully working root script. If it is in fact real, then all they need to do is load it to a host site and share the link.

Just because they might have rooted the phone and had a script together as seen in the video doesn't mean they "just have to upload it and share a link". First, they don't even HAVE to share the work. Second, they could be working on a graphical UI instead of a script for windows or an app like Kingroot to download to the phone.. They could be putting together a virus to insert into phones. They could also be waiting for a paypal account to be fully verified so they can take PP donations and put them into an account in Yemen. Someone could be holding the two hostage and not allowing them to release the root method until they root the next big phone of 2017, lol. There is a lot that COULD be going on behind the scenes if they were able to root the phone but are not ready to release as stated..

I don't mind waiting until mid March as my birthday is April 5th so it would still be released early for me to have a fun day of removing bloatware for my one person party. Lot's of cake for everyo....for me..

I didn't mean it in the HAVE to as you put it. Of course they aren't required to post anything. I was meaning that since it appears that they have a working script, then there is nothing left that needs to be done before it could be released. Given that there have been several people falsely say they have rooted this device, but never stepped forward with the product, then I don't think it's unreasonable to be doubtful from just a youtube video.

Please wait until the completion of the encryption program and Examination of the program to avoid mistakes

Thanks for all
What encryption? There's no need for encryption....unless you're planning on selling the program rather than posting it.
