I finally got my note 3 a few days ago, this morning I did the "Vroot" (I didn't get chance to verify root access, as I needed to entertain my son for a few minutes with a game. After 2 minutes he gave it back "it's not working daddy", he had accepted an update. I just checked no root access.

:crying:So my question is am I screwed now?:crying:
Unfortunately, yes. Sorry man.

What if you update via Samsung Updater?

I took the update mistakenly when I hooked up my phone to my laptop via USB. Am I just as screwed?

Confirmed- if rooted and safestrapped- OTA fails harmlessly

If you are rooted and safe strapped, the update will fail.

Yes, you are correct. I need not have been so concerned. My SM-N900V was rooted and installed with Safestrap 3.65. Clicking once on the OTA confirmation (by mistake) led to an immediate reboot and on to a forced download behavior ("RECOVERY BOOTING") by the locked bootstrap, but within 60 seconds the bootstrap reported failure and allowed Safestrap to run, leading me back to a running 4.3 system with no undesirable side effects.

Thanks.

The leaked version is already rooted. You should have an app called Super SU

Nope...no super User...I downloaded root checker and it says im not rooted.
What are the last 3 characters under the About Phone for "Baseband Version" and "Build Number" If both are "NC4" then you have the release installed, if Build ends with NC2 then that's the leaked version no matter what Baseband is shown.

The NC2 that was posted here by Beans was already rooted. NC4, as of now, can not be rooted.

I have NC2. My phone was not rooted before I flashed NC2. After putting NC2 kit kat on my phone I downloaded root checker. It says no root. Also no super user installed.

Accidentally hit INSTALL!!

OK, so I've been hitting the back button every time that idiotic update nag appears (which is every time I push the 'On' button) so that I could flash the N2 firmware and the leaked kitkat build. Today, however, I accidentally pressed install. The phone started rebooting and displayed "Recovery booting..." in little blue letters in the upper left corner of the display. I pulled the battery, waited and reinserting it. Same blue letters. Pulled it again and left it out.

So, is there a way to head off the install? I'm really irritated! MJE.

Thanks for any help.

Verizon software update

I am new to replying or asking questions so bare with me.

As of the last 48 hrs I have been fighting with a OTA software update until I heard if it was good to accept (which I figured not).
Note: As stated by others, I also accidentally hit accept once and after trying to reboot, it failed.

I understand that I need to switch to the "Leaked" version, but before I do, I wanted to make sure it was truly recommended (I have seen over the last several months: I phones and others installing software that "Locks" the phone for the benefit of the carrier so I have been VERY cautious).

My INFO:
Verizon Note 3
SM-N900V

I am running Build: JSS15J.N900VVRUBMJE
Kernel version: 3.4.0 - [email protected] #1

So my questions are:
1. Do I need to switch to the leaked version?
2. How the heck do I get the OTA software update to STOP (there is not an option of course) or does it eventually stop? This pops up EVERY few minutes.
3. Are there any other recommendations that should be made from looking at my info above (outdated...etc)

Thanks in advance

1. The leaked version is the way to go if you want options for the future.
2. The leaked version removes the Verizon updater, so no more nags.

I used the original romantic that was originally released. I'm guessing it was stock. I just want to know how to properly root it now so I don't brick my device. Can I just use the rooted version of NC2 and flash it with oden?

Yes there is - enter download mode (home, power & volume up) then hit volume down to boot. Once in the os freeze sdm 1.0
