No. But just to give you an idea how tight vzw is making this crap on all their devices... the S5 is still without root. And the bounty for it is above $17,000. As talented as people are around here they still have nothing.

How long has Kexec taken for other phones?

That's very interesting, maybe we will see a drop in sales soon, that would force them to notice.
The rooting community is the vast minority. If we all jumped ship and went to TMobile tomorrow, the impact to Verizon would be a slightly smaller Christmas party this year. And to prove it...we complain about the locked bootloader, and they make it tighter.

It takes quite a while universally, it has nothing to do with this device in specific. It's not so much the actual kexec module that takes awhile, but the process to dump the stock kernel and load up the new kernel cleanly. It has to be transitioned nicely to take over where the old kernel left off. This includes informing the new kernel of hardware states (much is proprietary) and getting the modem to play nicely throughout the whole process (also proprietary.) Give it time. Hashcode is working with pretty much a blackbox, and what he's done so far is already astonishing.

I'm using safestrap with rooted stock 4.3 in rom slot (SDM frozen in Titanium) and hyperdrive 7 4.3 rom in slot 1. I am running slot 1 Hyperdrive 7 now.

I connected to my computer as media and I noticed verizon upgrade assistant and another file that looked like stock 4.4 listed. I switched to usb 3 mode and backed up my safestrap nandroids onto the computer. I forgot to copy pictures so after I disconected the usb I connected it again and it said upgrade mode instead of media mode. Again I switched to usb 3 copied my pictures and disconnected.

Should those files (verizon upgrade assistant and a file folder) show up when I connect my phone to computer? I never clicked on them so why did I see the words upgrade mode appear for a second before I switched to usb 3?

Of course I do not wish to install an ota. I thought I was safe since sdm is frozen in rom slot and I am running in slot 1 anyway?

Everything seems ok but i want to make sure that if I switch to rom slot the ota doesn't start.

GOT REPLACEMENT NOTE 3 W/4.3 Firmware

Rooting instructions & files are at the link in my signature. We have no aosp roms available unless you have the developer edition due to the locked bootloader. The locked bootloader on the retail version doesn't allow using a custom kernel which is a requirement to run anything like cm11. There are a number of great roms based off of touchwiz though, including eclipse which is a very close aosp clone. Post over in my thread linked below if you have any questions along the way. :good:
GOOD NEWS! I just received my replacement Note 3 which came with 4.3!

BUT - The first thing it is trying to do is upgrade and do the deadly KitKat 4.4.2 update! How do I prevent the phone from doing the upgrade?

I'm afraid to power it up!

Thank you!

Put it in airplane mode. Then it can't download the OTA.

THANKS a lot!

But help me with this first step, then we'll talk custom roms or loaders:

Step- 1 - Make sure you are on any rooted 4.3 rom running safestrap

So how do I ROOT the phone and install safestrap?

Verizon SM-N900V Baseband BMJE Android 4.3

Quick before it updates, lol!

Thanks!

How does that help, then I'm disconnected from the wireless network altogether?
Presuming you haven't already selected the install now option...it won't download via wireless or mobile data networks and then you can safely root..etc.

On JB MJE, use Kingo Root < 1.1.8; newer versions don't work.
Great, please post a link to download older that 1.1.8 Kingo Root, thanks!

SO HAPPY!

My Verizon Note 3 is now ROOTED, YAY!

I used Kingo Android Root 1.5, it worked flawlessly, thanks SO MUCH for everyone's help!

Now, what's the best way to install the custom rom?!

I got Odin 3.09 to work with the NC2 firmware as instructed, but the phone is NOT rebooting during the procedure, Odin reports PASS! but I can't get the phone to boot up anymore.
