Oh wait a minute you odined the full leak? Sorry it's getting late. If you odined the sextape leak and didn't use Beans builds to upgrade I'm not sure if you can Odin back to mje.
Sorry man my fault for the wrong info. You can try to Odin back but I'm not sure what will happen

Maybe pm Beanstown and see what he thinks.
Man you might be stuck.
Hopefully someone gets a root method for 4.4.2 for people that odined the sxtp leak before it was prerooted.

Man I feel terrible.
Sorry bro.

No worries sir. worked perfectly fine for me! *phew*

I odined from stock mje to the sextape leak. I didn't really care for it, so I odined back to mje. Worked fine for me. I did use a pit file to reformat with the mje.

Everyone better freeze these two as well... Verizon tried pushing a OTA on me a few minutes ago through this.

EDIT.. Thankfully it won't download from what Beans took out but freeze them anyways if you want to get rid of the annoying popup.
Is this something we should do? I just froze them... but I'm not sure if I'm going to miss something.

I froze them because I was getting a constant notification of a Samsung update that looked just like a OTA. I wasn't able to download it because the updater itself is removed but it was really annoying and useless.

OTA's come from VZW. If update is from Samsung it is probably just an update to some samsung apps.

Some stuff to consider is what root method can be used, depending on the firmware installed... and whether or not you care if the knox flag has been set. The latter will likely only apply if you have enterprise security concerns... which is unlikely if you're buying the phone on craigslist.

As for the root method... There is no unrootable version of the Verizon phone, since the kit kat update has not been officially pushed. Find the "Universal Root De La Vega" thread for which versions are supported by that method. You may have to use Kingo or vRoot... but these methods have had a sketchy past, so proceed with them only if you understand what they are (and more importantly... what they are NOT).

Ideally... you would want to find a Note 3 with the MI9 firmware version on it (the initial release), and it would already be rooted via the original root de la vega method. That setup worked great for me in getting onto the leaked, pre-rooted kitkat build.

Consider checking Swappa, too. You can get more information without having to hassle the craigslist sellers, who, as I have found out first-hand... are often surprisingly unwilling or unable to answer questions about their own devices that they are selling. Also... in one case, a seller was selling 100 pain pills and a Note 3 that they "found" and did not want to split the two to sell separately. Weird, huh?

Good luck

Honestly, I haven't heard of an OTA rolling out yet so I wouldn't be worried about getting a device that has accepted that & can't go back or be rooted. The OTA could come at any time but I'm sure you'll hear about it here quickly so until then any out on the market should be able to be rooted, etc.

Of course use common sense on things like bricked devices, cosmetic damage, etc.
!
Thanks for the fast replies. I should be pickin up one soon!!!

Yeah, I get updates from Samsung for Samsung apps all the time. Samsung has their own app store, which gets updates itself... as well as a lot of the pre-loaded crapps that were on the phone when I bought it. I don't think the Samsung updater will have any impact on reverting/updating the leaked 4.4.2 software. More blatantly... I don't think the Samsung updater can ruin the benefits that we've gained from the leak. So... if you've installed Beans's deodexed ROM, or if you've frozen SDM... then in my humble, non-professional opinion... I think you're safe.

When I was on MI9, I froze an app called FWUpdate or something like that... and had my phone for a month while MJ7 and MJE were both already available (this was in February). At around the 1 month mark... all of a sudden, my phone wanted to install an OTA. I was horrified. A little research exposed the fact that I had to freeze SDM... so that's what I did. No more OTA requests.

Can anyone else comment about the necessity to freeze other apps? I would assume that Beans knew what was necessary when he said that the deodexed version had OTAs frozen.

Could someone clear up the following?

I have the deodexed 4.4.2 leak. I saw that Beans just posted a NC2 modem file. Now - when the firmware was flashed for the leak, can I assume that the modem was updated too? Or do I need to flash this NC2 modem file separately? The reason i'm asking is that since updating to the leak, my signal is fluctuating a little too easily between 4G and 3G, similar to what others have said, so I want to see if flashing back to a different modem would improve this....

Thanks for the info, that explains it.

You already have the NC2 modem installed. See settings, about, baseband. That modem file was provided separate from the rom for the guys running the dev edition phones because they can't load the stock retail KK firmware which includes modem and kernel . They have to skip the kernel, load a different one from 4.3 and then load the NC2 modem if they want it.

Thank you. Another quick question - i'm assuming that it is safe to install an earlier modem through odin, is that correct?

I have a dilemma.

I upgraded to the leak with no problem. However, when I went to activate activesync for my work email the phone fails to encrypt, which is required by my job. I start the encryption process, the phone reboots (which is normal), but never kicks off the encryption process. I went back to 4.3 and encrypted my phone with no problem. I assume this fails due to the 4.4 release being rooted?

My question is: Has anyone had this happen to them and is there any sort of work around?

Thanks

I might also add I used vroot to root. I couldn't get Kingo to work.
