I might have used the wrong word, I meant can the bootloader be unlocked and multiple devices. My problem with Verizon was imei dependent. Could not use a Verizon sim on multiple devices.
Yeah and that's why you get the unlocked one. If you get a 7 Pro, there's no disadvantage to getting the unlocked one as far as carrier support goes. Unlocked one works flawlessly and can be bootloader unlocked out of the box.

The Pixel 7 Pro supports all of Verizon's bands including mmWave no matter if you get it locked from them or unlocked elsewhere. Verizon added the Pixel 7 Pro to their database from day one because of that mmWave support.
The waves may all work, but I'm still on my unlocked p2xl on Android 10. My unlocked device never had her VoLTE or will preferred calling. It seems like there is another service I miss out on, but it's been so long that I studied and fought the issue that I forget.

I did some changes with solid explorer to get wifi calling to kick in after a call begins, but I can't select it to be always preferred. Verizon said it shouldn't matter. People on this site with the same setup said they didn't have any issues and didn't have to do anything special at all, but there were some just like me too. For these reason alone I am very hesitant to get an unlocked phone anymore. I'll miss AdAway and viperfor Android, but besides those and 2-3 other things rooting seems stupid anymore. It was in 2017 when I did it to this phone.

The point being, Verizon/unlocked version on the vzw network DOES matter sometimes

You can't always go by what the phone information reports. It shows no VoLTE or WiFi calling yet both are provisioned and working.

I ended up saying screw it and transferred to US Mobile. Sign up and porting was easy and eSIM worked first try.

I was beyond done with Straight Talk and their terrible support, website, app, you name it. US Mobile trial period helped ease the pain of still having 3 weeks left of straight talk service.

Is the "Hd" box VoLTE? because I do have that. My. Phone will kick on to wifi calling shortly after the call begins (which is annoying because I miss a couple words of the call when this happens), but there is no option to *start* the call on wifi in all scenarios where wifi is connected. That's what I was referring to.

Regardless, are you confirming that using an unlocked Google phone on Verizon has volte, wifi calling, and all the other carrier features functioning as intended?

For what it's worth, I picked up my P7P and migrated from a P6P on Saturday. I'm on Red Pocket verizion, and it seems to work just fine for data and voice on the phone. I haven't tried 5G yet as that's about 20 miles from my house, but LTE seems to be working fine....

i have a pixel 7 pro, trying to use my existing totalwireless sim, and is also experiencing this issue. I also reached out to google and provided a bug report with my sim in. Then I moved my sim back to my pixel 4a where it works without issue so I can at least continue to receive call while they figure it out.
my call to totalwireless had them telling me to get a new sim, because my sim is tied to a different account (old phone) then my new phone would be, they are utterly useless.
hoping this gets fixed before my wife's Pixel 7 shows up later this week

Yes, HD Voice is another name for VoLTE.

And yes, I am confirming that I have all those things working on the Verizon network on my unlocked 7 Pro. If they're working on an MVNO, they will work on Verizon proper.

Seriously, just switch to US Mobile Warp 5G. They even get priority data from Verizon while Total does not (despite being owned by Verizon). There is no good reason to use Total anymore as their pricing now lines up with Verizon prepaid which has always been a ripoff.

Well just so you know, you can get 4 30GB lines on US Mobile for $80 plus tax and have postpaid priority data on Verizon rather than T-Mobile on Fi or you can get 100GB per line for $120.

I don't totally understand all the issues and companies discussed here. Will I able to buy a Google (unlocked) version of the Pixel 7 pro and use it on the Verizon network without issues? I have a plan with Verizon. I'm not paying as I go or anything like that. I have one SIM card that is physically in my phone today. That is what I would plan to do with this new phone.

Yes. That's what unlocked means.

FYI I'm in a 5G zone right now. Everything works normal. Once again, Red Pocket MVNO on Verizon. No issues. Not sure why total is crapping out, but Red Pocket works just fine.

Has anyone on here with a Pixel 7 switched to US Mobile and NOT been successful in getting the fone to work that was not working on one of the other carriers mentioned here, like Total Wireless? Last question, does it have to be an ESim to be successful rather than a physical one?

There are multiple 7 Pros that activated fine on their subreddit and it doesn't matter if it's pSIM or eSIM.

If you're using either Straight Talk, or Tracfone with their Verizon SIM, I would avoid the Unlocked Pixel 7 & 7 Pro for right now. I'm not sure if it's the phones themselves, or an issue with the carrier, or a combination of both, but it seems they're not compatible. I got my 7 Pro on Wednesday and tried using my ST Verizon SIM and it wouldn't work. I'm coming from a Oneplus 9 Pro and the SIM works just fine.

I say it could be an issue with either the phone, or with ST/TF because when I contacted Google Support to initiate an exchange, the only phone they would let me order with my RMA was the Google Fi version. I contacted support again about not being able to order the Unlocked version. I sent them a screenshot of my order email and a picture of the phones box with the SKU, all of which pointed to the phone being the Unlocked version. They agreed and I'm now waiting for them to resolve the issue of me not being able to buy the Unlocked version through my RMA request. So maybe there could be an issue on Googles end with the Unlocked version of the pixel 7/7 Pro.

I also say it could be an issue with ST/TF, becasue Verizon has recently bought Tracfone and all of their subsidiaries, Straight Talk being one of them. Because of this, I'm not sure if they've basically merged the services to the point where you would need the Verizon version of the phone in order for it to work. This is just speculation on my part though. I did contact Straight Talk support first, where they checked my IMEI/ICCID numbers, which matched what they were seeing on their end. They also ran me through the usual troubleshooting list, with nothing fixing the issue.

Here's a link to a couple threads with people having the same issue. The first one is one I posted the other day:

    https://reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/y2erhe/is_anyone_else_using_a_straight_talk_verizon_sim/

    https://reddit.com/r/StraightTalk/comments/y3cq9s/upgrading_to_pixel_7_byop/

If anyone is actually using a Straight Talk/Tracfone Verizon SIM in their P7/P7 Pro, please, leave a comment and let me know how you got it to work..

Installing the beta version of Android 13 fixed the Straight Talk\Total sim issues for me. https://www.google.com/android/beta Just opt-in your device then check for updates on your phone and it will download , install, and reboot then you should have service.
The download is like 2gb you will need wifi.

    Google Info:
You can opt out of the program at any time to return to the stable public version of Android. When you opt-out of the program, all user data on the device will be wiped.During the beta program’s release cycle, there will be stable releases to the public (the official platform release followed by Quarterly Platform Releases (QPRs)). When you apply the stable release update for the version you’re beta testing, you can opt out without a data wipe for a limited time until you apply the next beta update.

    Cross-posting this from reddit-

Brief update for everyone in the thread or lurking- Talked to Google support just now.
The tech I spoke explained that this is now a known widespread issue that has been escalated and is "top priority" (his words) for the engineers.

He documented my IMEI and added it to the ongoing ticket. I should be getting a follow-up email sometime in the future when a workaround is found.
I'd recommend calling to do the same ASAP to make sure that they are aware how widespread the issue is.

I know some will not care to hear this, but it's probably worth posting (for the sake of those readers who might be wondering) that prepaid Verizon is indeed working without issue.

This isn't a vote or an ad for VZW.
I usually go with whatever is least expensive that meets my needs (Red Pocket, Straight Talk, Mint, Google Fi, Visible have all gotten my business at some point) but VZW is the only carrier with decent coverage at my current workplace.

Google Fi sim has issues for me. Flashed latest Oct factory and BL unlock and root. Let sit overnight and installed sim. Looks like at moment of sim registration to cellular enabling it causes a reboot. Tried a few times and sometimes airplane mode would be on, and no sim (blank) or times just bootloop cycling. Removing sim, bootloop cycling stopped. Then airplane mode, but wifi can be on. So reflash latest again, no root. Same thing happening.
Support still clueless and escalation has begun.
Sim back in my 6a and all is fine.

I do know some data is pushed into system upon a Fi sim insertion been that way since my pixel 3. My local coverage is us cellular which requires a locked BL, but fortunately on Fi it works without a locked BL.
So thought to add, likely we need a immediate G side update...
I am using it on Fi coming from my Pixel 4 XL. Instead of moving the sim card from my old phone I decided to use eSIM with this one and leave the card in the old one and it's working perfectly.
