Question PSA: It's looking like the Unlocked Pixel 7/7 Pro & Straight Talk/Tracfone's Verizon BYOP service are not compatible.

Has anyone on here with a Pixel 7 switched to US Mobile and NOT been successful in getting the fone to work that was not working on one of the other carriers mentioned here, like Total Wireless? Last question, does it have to be an ESim to be successful rather than a physical one?

My esim on the non-pro finally activated. I'm porting out with physical sim. Unfortunate because I have a lot of saved shared cards on total.

Went from Pixel 4XL to 7 Pro on Total Wireless (now Verizon Total or whatever). Bought the unlocked version from Google direct, unlocked and rooted immediatly upon recipet before I tried to connect to a network.

Once I was rooted and ready to go I tried to use the old SIM card, recognizing I might not get 5G. No dice. Called Total Wireless support, they said to go get a new SIM card and call again.

Got the new 5g compatible SIM, called support, they verified IME (it was the P7P), SIM number (it was the new card), reboot a few times. Told me to turn it off 15-30m and try again. No dice. The old 4Xl was off the network, but the P7P wasn't connecting. After waitng the P7P didn't connect.

Called back, more rebooting and number verification. Said I should get a new SIM and new number. Wasn't willing to do so as I've had this number for 20ish years, so did some more stuff, wait 15-30 try again. No dice.

Called third time. Same deal. Said they'd send me a new SIM.

Gave up and went to Verizon. Had to get my account # from Total (turns out it's the IME) and PIN transfer number. Which required to talking to three different people, and waiting an hour for the email with the PIN to arrive. Of course, everyone asked me "We'll text you the PIN, yah?" "No you f***'in idiot, I"ve told you my phone isn't connecting to your damn network, how am I supposed to get your bloody text?!"

Once I had all that, Verizon got me on their network in minutes. $35 prepaid, month to month, 15g data. 5g service, although not the the microwave or whatever the super fast service is, but I don't need it so no biggy.

I'd hunt around for a better deal, but at this point I'm happy to stay with Evil Big Red as the price appears competitive, it meets my needs, and they seem competent.

I was using Tracfone (Verizon) on my Pixel 6 Pro. Got the 7 Pro and put it in there but didn't work. After a few hours and them disconnecting me each time they transfer me, they finally told me I needed to get a new sim. So I went and got a new sim and still didn't work. More talking with Tracfone got nowhere.

Then talked to Google support and they are still looking into it. Every day or 2 I get an email that they are looking into it and it's been escalated.

Finally realized how much I hate Tracfone and how bad their customer service is that I signed up with Mint Mobile and couldn't be happier. Better connection, 10x better download speeds (literally, getting 850 Mbps download using their T-Mobile network) and no yelling at customer service, lol. My blood pressure is doing much better these days

Total by Verizon (formerly total wireless). Having same issue. Pixel 7 won't connect to network, I've worked with their tech support for the past 18 hours with no luck. At this point I've reverted back to using my old phone and if this doesn't get resolved in the next week or so, I will be returning my pixel 7 as it's no use to me in its current form.

Told the same thing by Google Pixel support chat. No timeline.
Told me Airvoice Wireless is also unsupported (as well as TracFone and Straight Talk).

I have about 10 days to decide to return. I already have two active SIMs with prepaid balances (TracFone and Airvoice Wireless), so I am not interested in switching carriers to accommodate Google's pathetic rollout.

Oh, I received a response from Google finally: "I've received an update from the specialist team and would like to let you know that currently Pixel 7 doesn't support Straight talk. We’ll continue to update our list as more carriers and networks are added."

Good luck with Visible. They are the absolute worst MVNO. Fine until you inevitably have an issue but when you do, support can't fix it, so you have to port out anyway.

Unfortunately, have to concur. Never again. Even worse, porting out of Visible was an adventure that took nearly 15hrs of call time with tech support over 3 days.

Yep Visible is one of the only MVNOs known on the NoContract subreddit for losing phone numbers when porting in or out. An absolute embarrassment for a company wholly owned by Verizon.

If you're using either Straight Talk, or Tracfone with their Verizon SIM, I would avoid the Unlocked Pixel 7 & 7 Pro for right now. I'm not sure if it's the phones themselves, or an issue with the carrier, or a combination of both, but it seems they're not compatible. I got my 7 Pro on Wednesday and tried using my ST Verizon SIM and it wouldn't work. I'm coming from a Oneplus 9 Pro and the SIM works just fine.

I say it could be an issue with either the phone, or with ST/TF because when I contacted Google Support to initiate an exchange, the only phone they would let me order with my RMA was the Google Fi version. I contacted support again about not being able to order the Unlocked version. I sent them a screenshot of my order email and a picture of the phones box with the SKU, all of which pointed to the phone being the Unlocked version. They agreed and I'm now waiting for them to resolve the issue of me not being able to buy the Unlocked version through my RMA request. So maybe there could be an issue on Googles end with the Unlocked version of the pixel 7/7 Pro.

I also say it could be an issue with ST/TF, becasue Verizon has recently bought Tracfone and all of their subsidiaries, Straight Talk being one of them. Because of this, I'm not sure if they've basically merged the services to the point where you would need the Verizon version of the phone in order for it to work. This is just speculation on my part though. I did contact Straight Talk support first, where they checked my IMEI/ICCID numbers, which matched what they were seeing on their end. They also ran me through the usual troubleshooting list, with nothing fixing the issue.

The download is like 2gb you will need wifi.

I was about to go to wally world to get a new sim card.
I was online "chat" this morning with straight talk, and gave them my imei number. The person SAID my imei was compatible with their network.
Maybe I'll just port over to t-mobile and be done with it. I've been using their
90 day freebe thingy on my p6p and have had zero issues. A bit more expensive
than straight talk, but since verizon took over straight talk/tracfone they've gone to hell!

I normally rock T-Mobile via a eSIM, but have a US Mobile Verizon physical SIM for "testing" other phones.

With Verizon physical SIMs, you can more-or-less use it in any VoLTE-capable phone if you first activated it on a "certified" phone, provided your destination phone is 'somewhat compatible' with Verizon VoLTE.

Both a Chinese OnePlus 9 and Japanese Pixel 5a (both sold) worked that way with VoLTE, even though neither are on Verizon's whitelist, while my Pixel 3/6/7 and US OnePlus 9 (which I recently bought) are.

So if your phone doesn't appear to be compatible, use a "compatible" donor phone to activate and then move your SIM.

I can confirm this also fixed Tracfone.
I installed the Beta, plugged in my Tracfone SIM, and it immediately worked, no setup required.

Plugged in the sim after the beta & reboot, and BOOM! Everything is back up and running!
I was going to switch to t-mobile, but I had signal issues in the past. They may have fixed them
though. Did their 90 day free deal and had no issues.
