meanwhile my repair status still hasn't changed in days. Worried :\

Satan, why have you forsaken me?

Yesterday, my status finally changed. Says repaired, return to owner. I decided to call and aks what was done. The lady on the phone said something about the battery connectors. That sounds odd. Maybe those techs throw in any old excuse and they really just flashed it. So, still a bit nervous :)

Today it shows a fedex tracking number, but it is not yet in FedEx's system...pretty normal on that.

I want my G4 back </whine> :)

It is not "settings > about", I used a secret code and scroll down
Code:
*#*#244773825625#*#*
Found in ATT G4 Forum XD
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-g4/general/info-amazing-secret-cough-codes-t3201817
ah nice. I'm also able to get there if rooted with the following:
Code:
su
am start com.lge.hiddenmenu/.SVC.version_info.VersionInfo
or you can just open the main hidden menu (at least on H815) with:
277634#*# > SVC Menu > Version Info

Still nothing about anti-rollback on my menu.. I assume because it's still on "v0" for all international G4's.

yes, you are right, I have the H950 5.1.1 (it shows v1) and tried to flash H950PR 5.1.1 (show nothing), it resulted in a beautiful brick

LG G4

This was not written anywhere specifically on the LG G4 forums that I could find. But every flash-addict needs to be warned. It is something you want to know before you continue tinkering.

Several users (myself included) have made the unfortunate mistake of attempting to downgrade their bootstack (for various reasons) to a former version.

DO NOT DO THIS (at least for the USA T-Mobile H811 version, and possibly other USA versions, per @autoprime)! It will result in a hard brick! Specifically, this results in the "Qualcomm QDLoader HS-USB port ( 9008 )" error. Connecting your phone to a PC will pop up with this active connection, but nothing else. There is no download mode. There is no publicly available fix as of yet.

This WILL happen both through KDZ restore as well as flashing bootstack .zips.

Yes, an official KDZ image can BRICK your USA phone, if you try to rollback.

This is in stark contrast to other manufacturers (i.e. Samsung), where the attempt to flash an older bootloader/modem/radio will simply fail, but your phone is not bricked.

I have conferred with @autoprime, who confirmed that with each OTA firmware release (on T-Mobile it was 10H, and now 10N), the version # increments. Flashing a lower version # will result in brick.

I have searched far and wide for a DIY fix. Without the proper firmwares in the right format, as well as the right flashing software, your phone is done and must be sent in for LG repair.

To check what antiroll-back version you are on, input this sequence in the dialer (T-Mobile and ATT) and scroll down:
*#*#244773825625#*#*

Flashing a bootstack version less than this # (through KDZ or zip) will brick the phone. You are free to flash anything equal or higher than the version listed.
Got it! really appreciated!

I'm a bit confused.
I have an H811, have done multiple ROM flashings w/ TWRP and currently on Micro's xTreme 10n but don't see anything about a rollback version.

Does this all relate to me as well? Not that I want to downgrade, but coming from Samsung phones not used to the idea of bricking from a firmware/modem change.

As long as you do not flash a 10h bootstack (micro removed it after this) or the 10h kdz, you are fine. The roms do not usually include a bootstack/radio upgrade or downgrade.

Not that weird.

Don't forget that you can also update the official firmware using the LG Bridge software and a problem while doing that could corrupt the bootloader and cause the same type of error. Even an OTA update could corrupt the bootloader if any of the connections to the battery, or the battery itself, is faulty. I just had a Nexus 5 repaired by LG service (my current daily driver while my G4 is "repaired") that was randomly shutting down as if the power switch was held for 10 seconds when on battery power. The good news is that LG repair seems to be aware of this and therefore does not assume that any bricked G4 is the result of an attempt to downgrade the firmware.

Since a failure during a firmware update could be caused by anything that might disrupt the power to the device while the bootloader is being flashed (intermittent cable, USB port, battery connection, voltage regulator, etc.) it makes sense that they would choose to "repair" one or more of those things. It would be interesting to find out if they actually did or just reloaded the firmware since it must be difficult to isolate the problem source after a failed flash.

Well, as OP knows, I did this to mine. Its current status is Received at LG support. So now I nervously wait to find out if it is repairable (has to be). Their form letter doesn't make you feel comfortable, either :)

[FONT=&quot]Warranty Repair Notice:[/FONT][FONT=&quot] [/FONT]

  • [FONT=&quot]The device warranty does not cover physical, liquid, or cosmetic damage. If the device is damaged and deemed repairable charges may apply.[/FONT]
  • [FONT=&quot]If the device is deemed as un-repairable, the device will be returned to you as is.[/FONT]
  • [FONT=&quot]Charges may apply for units that are out of warranty by manufacturer‘s date code.[/FONT]
But when I needed the sim slot in my G3 replaced, I also received this email and a few days later, had my phone back in my hands all nicely repaired.
Not to Worry! I just got mine back 09/15/2015, Tuesday, and they said they replaced the Power IC (which I doubt!) because if you think about it, if all you need to do is short out two leads and then reflash, wouldn't that be cheaper and faster than resoldering in a new IC?! Also their notice said that I reported Power Off and no ability to power on! Again not true.
I told them the screen went blank and there was no way to power off the device/or factory reset...(sigh!) BUT it is back and working again. Now if I can only get the "phone" portion to work correctly! Somewhere between 5 and 20 minutes, other people tell me my phone is breaking up and they can't understand me. LG says there is no problem! Sounds like a flaky modem to me.

Well, I will report back tomorrow when I receive my phone back from LG. Hoping for the best.
Good luck on your possible modem issue.

ooh fancy! im not sure if g4 has that displayed in the settings > about screen.. but maybe? it's not on mine tho (H815 10C)

But yes.. that would be what's being referred to in this thread. As your screen shows "1"... so any bootloader's at "v0" would brick phone... while any "v1" or higher" would work. and if you were to flash a "v2" bootloader.. the versioning would be updated and you could no longer flash anything under "v2".. etc etc.

I'd love to hear from other G4 users if they have this menu value on their phones... would make it easier on me to know which updates are at which version.
Just got mine back from LG on Tuesday, 09/15/2015 and I noticed that I don't have an update number. Mine says Anti-rollback Version Non-fusing device. Here are the screen shots after installing xTreme 2.0 on top of H81110n stock, which was installed on top of H81110h stock.

Mine says Anti-Rollback Version 2. Everything else on the screen is that screen is the same as yours.
Wonder what Non-Fusing means?

Man, after being on that little LG Leon for over a week, this is like having a brand new phone all over again. Exciting :)

* I think it means that the IC can't get messed up and won't cause the issue I just had.
NO...I won't try to flash an older ROM!
I've learned my lesson...still... I wonder ?

I actually thought about buying an LG LEON, as a backup, when I am in between smartphones because it is a pretty cool phone. :good:
You would have thought the Leon was king if you were on my backup: ATT Gophone!

It was $89.99 on sale at Best Buy. The gui is very much like the G3/G4 as one would expect, so it was not a bad thing having to use it. And the small size was sorta nice in some respects. Damned impressive for a $90 phone that gives peace of mind between phones or in repair situation.

Well that certainly is interesting. I got a brand new replacement and when it updated itself from 10d to 10h when I first opened it, there was nothing listed in the antirollback section. Once I updated to 10N, it listed the "2" that we all see.

Looks like you have the 'golden sample!' haha. Probably will advance the next time a new update rolls in. But we'll see.
