[PSA] **WARNING** DO NOT TRY TO DOWNGRADE YOUR G4 BOOTSTACK (in USA at least)

So, are there any reasons I would want to stay on 10h and NOT upgrade my bootstack to 10n? I've combed the forums and (sorry if I missed it) everyone I can see says the 10n update is better than 10h.... I just switched to T-Mobile from Verizon (S4) and this is my first LG device as well. I'm aware I can't go back to 10h once I leave, but since H8110N is still bootloader unlocked and rootable(correct me if I'm wrong), is there any reason to stay on 10h? I'm hesitant because when I got my S4 it was already updated past the point of being able to unlock the bootloader, and GOD was that a pain. Sorry if I missed the answer, I've read almost everywhere on the forum and couldn't find it.

No reason to stay on 10h on t-mobile version. We can install twrp and have oem unlock, unlike other models which are awaiting unlock and the anti rollback might affect a pending fix.

need repair H811

Nope! I just bricked mine also doing something else and there's no recovery at all if you can't access download mode. Just call T-Mobile and they'll send you another one under warranty. I got mine UPS Next Day Air for $5 bucks. Waiting for it as I type! :)
unfortunately I`m not in US for the moment and I can`t change it under warranty..so I check the solution of this situation..waiting for OCTOPUS updates maybe it can resolve my problem with JTAG???

Also I saw a lot of posts on Google search that LG G4 H811 can be repaired in Vietnam?? if they can why we can`t???? or it is fake??

T-Mobile H-811 here, TWRP recovery. Had been on a debloated stock, 10H, Upgraded to a 10F, Marshmallow 6.0 ROM that turned out to be much buggier than I'd like. Wiped everything, tried to flash the backup I'd made, and when it came to I started getting "Process system is not responding" errors and huge lag spikes that have left it largely unusable. Now I'm here, looking at flashing a 10N via KDZ, and wondering if I'm wasting my time and totally f'ed.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Do't try to downgrade your phone!!!!
Otherwise you will have beautiful brick as LG G4..

Depends. How did you load the marshmallow rom? If you did not upgrade the bootstack, you could be fine downgrading. Most roms do not include a bootstack upgrade and this is flashed separately.

You could try flashing micro's stock 10n rom only. This doesn't touch the bootstack.

Well the whole downgrade=brick issue isn't mentioned anywhere in the t-mobile forums, so I wasn't exactly aware of all of this at the time. Otherwise, of course, I would've just avoided this entire issue -.-

The marshmallow was loaded by dl'ing the ROM to my ext_sd and wiping/installing through twrp. It's worth mentioning that I can still get into recovery, the phone still boots, and at the moment it's even cooperating with me as far as doing stuff. So I have to believe it can be saved :p Current plan is to flash from http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g4/development/rom-g4-h811-10n-stock-rooted-rom-t3188858 but I'll hold off to wait for a reply, cause I'd like to be sure that I'm doing this right.

Should I flash the 10N bootstack like it says, or just go straight to the ROM?

Seem to have fixed my H811

Right, so first off, I cited my ROMs wrong, despite edits -.- I hadn't attempted a 10F, but instead the 7 HD M port found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g4/development/global-marshmallow-6-0-port-to-h811-t3232760.

My bootstack was still at 10H though, and I'd been trying to flash the stock-debloated-10H ROM that I'd started my root efforts with months ago.

I went and flashed the 10N bootstack, followed by Micro's H811 10N xTreme ROM, dirty flashes, cache/dalvik wipes afterward, and things seem to be back to working order. Not lagging anymore, System processes aren't crashing or hanging, and I can get into my security settings and all without FCing.

I think this particular issue can be marked as "Solved," and I appreciate all of the assistance given. Thanks for keeping me from losing hope :good:

Glad you figured it out! Yeah, 10N is pretty steady at this point. Recommend sticking with it until there's an official M release that's rootable.

How were you able to flash anything when your phone was bricked? Just bricked mine and I'm really confused as to what steps I should take to recover from this.

I'm afraid my phone wasn't actually bricked at any point, just buggy as hell/freezing constantly cause all of my ROMs were trying to rely on a newer bootstack that I didn't have. It still booted and could reboot to TWRP, so I just upgraded to the appropriate 10N and read comments until I thought a ROM seemed stable, then flashed it.

Sorry I can't assist :(

Haha no biggie! I figured you still had some kind of control of your phone lol. Took it in for an exchange yesterday. The phone should be here by Tuesday, and cm12.1 should be on it by Tuesday night haha

VZW

Still no word on how to check the anti rollback version for the big red VZW version?
Trying to catch up on how to check it so I can unroot my 10A, do the OTA to 13 and flash the pre-rooted image.

No one has stepped up to answer the VZW question unfortunately.

For your purposes, though, it doesn't sound you are downgrading, just re-rooting and upgrading, so really this warning shouldn't have anything to do with your plan.
