Any way to restore phone to pre PSFreedom without a full nandroid?Did we not just flash the kernel?
Yeah, you can simply re-flash a different kernel, like Hydra kernel, King's kernel, etc. and get Wi-Fi and USB mass storage option working again.

And then reflash the adrynalyne's PSFreedom kernel whenever you want to exploit your PS3.

Sounds like a real hassle and a waste. Considering that the phone would have to be plugged into the ps3 the whole time you want to use the hack. Then you have to do this every time, seems like a real pain.

There are solutions that cost as low as $20-30 that can work for this and I'd rather pay for that then have to mess with my phone all the time.

I ordered parts to just solder to a PCB to make my own and was about $12 or so for everything. Also you can do this with a TI-84 plus calculator and some other devices as well.

If you really think that, then you have no right to be posting in this thread. And no, you are wrong, you do NOT have to have the phone connected to ps3 the entire time. Immediately after booting the PS3 you can remove it.

The only difference between using a USB dev board and a phone is this extra step before and after: just open rom manager click install rom from zip then click the kernel.

If that is a "hassle and a waste," I suggest re-evaluating this scene.

A hassle? Nah I just jailbroke my ps3, opening all sorts of possibility's with a smart phone which I already owned. I'm not waiting on my hardware to be shipped or possibly delayed further like most jailbreak solutions. I believe in the near future someone will make a hack that sticks and all these methods will be outdated/unneeded.

With the new capabilities of level 2 peeking from PSFreedom 1.1, we now have the opportunity to see inside the PS3's kernel and we should definitely see better methods of modding it. With the way the scene is moving, im sure it wont be too terribly long before we see a permanent solution.

IMO its a waste, but its good to see the community working on it for people who maybe don't have the skill to do other things like building their own device or maybe don't have the money to spend on a device. Since they already have a cell phone capable of doing the hack, then so be it.

Im just saying, everytime I flash a new kernel or rom, it seems my battery life starts getting wacky and I have to recalibrate my phone's battery everytime. You know how much it sucks to see your phone drop 10% in like 15 minutes or less when you flash something new?

This solution just doesn't seem to be for me. I am building boards with PIC18F2550 and flashing them with my programmer. This is a better solution, at least for myself.

That's all you need, and you don't need some of the resistors, basically anything connecting to pins 21-27 on the PIC is not needed.

how to transfer PS3 games to hard drive via FTP

Just in case anyone was wondering, here are some steps on how to transfer PS3 games that you have downloaded (jailbreak dumb only) to the PS3 internal hard drive via FTP:

1. Download PS3-FTP-Server.pkg (Google it) and install onto your PS3
2. Download and install FileZilla FTP (or your favorite FTP program) onto your PC.
3. Follow the READ ME instruction file for PS3-FTP-Server for configuring the IP, port, and login credential.

(Note: For FileZilla, I did not need to change any settings, I just entered IP, port, username, any password, and hit simply hit connect.)

4. Once connected, you will see the directory structures of the PS3. Simply go to: /dev_hdd0/game/LAUN12345/GAMEZ

(Note: "/dev_hdd0 is the hard drive", "LAUN12345" is the Backup Manager program, and "GAMEZ" is where your downloaded games go into, yeah with a "Z" not "S".)

(Note: Games that you download from the Internet may not have the correct Title ID. You can use PS3SFOEdit to open the PARAM.SFO found in the folder of your downloaded PS3 games. This will reveal the Title ID of the game.

Or do a Google Search for the game's SAVE DATA and the SAVE DATA folder name is usually the Title ID of the game, too.)

5. Use the left side of the FileZilla program to drag and drop your downloaded PS3 game to the right side, into the /dev_hdd0/game/LAUN12345/GAMEZ directory. SEE IMAGE BELOW.

6. Wait until the transfer is done. May take hours  but will be worth it.

7. You may need to change the Permission of the folder belonging to the PS3 game that you just transferred over. To do so, right-click on the the folder that you just uploaded, choose "File Permissions" and change the "numeric value" to either 700 or 707. I think you ONLY need to do it for the main folder.

(Note: You can also use the steps above to transfer games from your PS3 hard drive to your PC)
