VS990 with H900 FW

Hello @tungkick

I would really appriciate your help as I am not sure to make the move and try the root proccess.

My V10 has a VS990 Board but the firmware installed is H900 MM 21w.
Can I root with your method without bricking my phone ? This cross flashing has been bricking many V10s and it seems no one found a solution to this yet.

I would really appriciate you help and will be willing to Donate as well.

Thanks

I gave up on this phone. Thanks so much for your efforts! Do you have anything explaining the methodology behind this root? I'd love to learn how you accomplished it.

Alright folks, let me try to help everyone out. First:

1. Download this. This is my Google Drive, get it while you can. It has the LG Drivers, TOT Files, and LGUP.

2. Install the LG Drivers.
3. Extract the RAR File to get the .TOT file.
4. Unzip "lgupnew.zip"
5. Run LGUP_Store_Frame_Ver_1_14_3.msi
6. LGUP_8994_DLL_Ver_0_0_1_18.msi
7. Copy the "common" folder to "C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP\model"
8. Plug phone into PC. Ensure USB Debugging is enabled.
9. Run "LGUP" from your start menu.
10. Select your Phone
EDIT 10.a - Select "Upgrade" or else it will wipe your phone.
11. For the "BIN File" select the "rootedsystemvs.tot" file you extracted in step 3.
12. You'll have root in about 3 minutes!

Note: This will install SuperSU, which will immediately need to be updated and you'll need another reboot.

If you want to throw a couple bones to help my Google Drive cost, it's [email protected]. Please ensure you send any pledged contributions to @tungkick
Every each and every time I go to somebody's link to go download the Google drivers for my Verizon LG vs990 V10 it says that the file does not exist anymore I'm getting sick and tired of this I'm throwing my Verizon phone away and going with another damn carrier it's a lot easier to work with and I suggest everybody do the same unless somebody else has a suggestion in a way for me to get my Google drivers to root my phone

Ok, I got the phone already with Android 6 known as marshmallow . Anyhow tried the method and got the result : 0x2000, TOT antirollback version is smaller than device version. Why I need to root it? just to get my hotspot capability unlocked. hope someone finds a way to do it and shares with us how to .

lololololol RIP, should have read the thread or any of the other multitude of the threads on this. I used to own the V10, You cannot go back to 5.1 after going to 6.0.1, which you just did, for the exact reason you specified. I believe you might be able to find a TOT file for 6.0 that I uploaded somewhere, but it has been so long ago I forgot. I can look though.

I'm not surprised there's still no way to downgrade-- does this tot, tho, have root? or am I still completely SOL?

(trying to get a new phone, but money's tight, so stuck with this for now :/)

Yes this TOT has root, but you HAVE to be on either 5.0.1 or 5.1 to flash it. Flashing it on Marshmallow or above will brick your phone.

Yes, absolutely DO NOT flash this if you are on 6.0. There were stories years ago about people bricking their phones by flashing it. Something something "Anti-TOT Rollback." Stopped your device from booting.
If you have the option, just sell the V10 and go buy a used OnePlus 3. Development has been dead for years. Currently running AOSP 9.0 on the OP3 and that came out around the same time as the V10.

My LG V10 is stuck in a reboot loop and not accepting the steps. It also might be newer than android marshmallow. It may be Oreo. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.
