Hello :)
Although the "good looking interface" idea is a very personal thing, my idea is to share
days and days of my research on the internet in this thread.

Let's start.

First of all I would like to specify that the Custom Rom that I have installed is the CyanogenMod 11.

First step: more space on the screen.

As soon as I did flash the rom I said, "It's all huge!", indeed, do you think about how much space you could get on the screen if things were a bit 'smaller?

Take a look:

It's much better for me, isn't it!?
And those huge tabs in google now?! No problem! Look here:

And this is just the beginning ..

And if you wanted an application with a higher resolution? Or less? Only one application or two... It can be done.

Now, you love Android too much, but you see your friend's iPhone and also would you like notifications on your lock screen?

Oh, Android is fully customizable! But you don't know how to?
You are in the right place! See this:

So ... The idea of this post is to combine all of our ideas and what you already know to create our "perfect interface", you may ask, give information, etc.
In the second post you can find the tutorials. Hit thanks if you liked.

Sorry for my english ahah :)

YOU MUST HAVE A CUSTOM ROM OR, AT LEAST, A ROOTED PHONE.

First Step: More space on the screen

To change the resolution of your screen you must edit the /system/build.prop file.
The simple way to set DPI is to download an app that does it for you.
Near "New DPI" you can set your favourite value, the minimum is 120 i think... Your current value is 240, try different values.

1) Set DPI.
2) Apply.
3) Reboot to see the changes. (Complete Reboot, no soft reboot)

My personal value is 190, but for facebook and other apps I use higher DPI...

Now, with Xposed Framework and a module you can set your favourites DPI app by app.
You want an app with more things on the screen or smaller fonts, items etc? You can.
Another appears too small for you? You can choose wich DPI set for that app.

(You can learn about Xposed and about how to install and activate it here in the Xposed original thread.

After you have installed Framework and rebooted your device you can install modules.
- Open Xposed app, go to Download and search App Settings module, install it.
- Now go to Modules and activate the module.
- Reboot your device to make the module working.
- Now you can open App Settings module and set your favourites DPI for each app.

How to set DPI:

- Open App Settings
- Choose the app.
- Make it ON for that app (trigger on the top).
- Near DPI set your value.
- Save. (On the Top-Right)

Second Step: Notifications on lockscreen

I think that a person that turn on the screen wants, first see his notifications.
On android you have to pull down the notification bar to see the description.
It's a personal thing... But I don't like that. I want to see my notifications when I turn o the screen.

Fortunately there is an app that can do that.

The app is called NILS Notifications.

It's simple, install the app, set your parameters and add the widget on your lockscreen instead of clock widget.

If you want to know if exists a thing you can request here. For example you want to know if your smartphone can make coffee? Ask here ;)

For me, the "best" UI is the one where I can view all important things like weather or next few calendar entries instantly, and where I can access all my apps quickly.
And if possible have a look at my background photo between these widgets.
That's why I always use only 1 screen where I put my widgets and at the bottom some application groups (supported by Nova).

Tomorrow I'll write that :)

See 2nd post for notifications on lockscreen.

Are you using a custom romon your device or Samsung Stock?
Thank you very much! I'm on SlimKat, and didn't see that it already contains a notification lockscreen!
I just find disappointing that all Gmail-widgets seem not to be able to display the subjects of the last receveid email(s) (they just display the number of unread emails, what isn't really interesting)

Try Carbon Kitkat Rom by F4k, much better than SlimKat

In which aspects do you find that? With Slim apart 1-2 small issues which don't disturb me at all, all work very well...

Thank you! I don't need more features than Slim but the longest battery life... But I will give it a try!
