Does anyone know why I can't fastboot boot.img?

Some background. I couldn't find any way to backup my ROM using linux tools. So I downloaded the ROM extracted from this thread and pulled out boot.img.

I then did:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot -i 0x2207 boot boot.img
The unit responds with:
Code:
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 0.599s]
booting...
OKAY [ 0.000s]
finished. total time: 0.599s
But the unit never boots.

I have a permanent usb otg connection on my unit. The usb lines from the SOM are disconnected from the usb hub. I can see a bunch of bad usb activity in dmesg after the fastboot command:
Code:
[282266.786283] usb 3-2: New USB device found, idVendor=2207, idProduct=0006
[282266.786296] usb 3-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
[282266.786306] usb 3-2: Product: rk30xx
[282266.786313] usb 3-2: Manufacturer: Rockchip
[282266.786324] usb 3-2: SerialNumber: 0123456789
[282266.786800] usb 3-2: ep 0x2 - rounding interval to 128 microframes, ep desc says 255 microframes
[282266.786821] usb 3-2: ep 0x81 - rounding interval to 128 microframes, ep desc says 255 microframes
# the next part happens after fastboot command
[282291.166186] usb 3-2: USB disconnect, device number 5
[282291.878774] usb 3-2: new high-speed USB device number 6 using xhci_hcd
[282291.990868] usb 3-2: Device not responding to setup address.
[282292.194871] usb 3-2: Device not responding to setup address.
[282292.398775] usb 3-2: device not accepting address 6, error -71
I've tried everything I can think of. So I thought I would double check if boot.img from the oreo rom should be bootable in this manner.

Helpful detailed info, cheers.

Looks like the SOM successfully flashed, perhaps theres a problem with the headunit main board. SOM is looking good.

Once the SOM is back in place and all screws in, what voltages are seen at SOM supply and also ground points (continuity)?

5V at pin 1,2,3 but no voltages at pin 20 or 28.
0.5V at pins 29 and 30.

pins 1,2,3 have 0 ohm
pins 4,5,6 have 0 ohm

sorry but is there anything else that i can look at?

or is this dead?

Tracking the MaskROM pads on the rev8.0 SOM I found that exposing the tracks between the PX5 processor and the eMMC is not necessarily needed for the rev4.0 SOM. Take a look at the attached pictures.
I have a rev8.0 SOM. How can I enter to maskrom Mode?
first I do the short as shown in the photo and then connect the usb cable to PC?

Will any of this work on an FYT 6026 Board. I bricked mine and am unable to boot into recovery. It is mounted to an S200 main board. The unit is made by Rupse. Sold by several other companies. The Witson Model number is W2-222. Any help would be appreciated.

I cant see anything that looks like an MTCD/E SoM inside your unit, so pretty certain its not an MTCD/E unit.

Deffo heard of FYT units, try searching the Android Headunits general forum fo FYT units.

Yeah I've been all over this forum trying to find it. I've also been trying to get the maker to help. They blocked me on Ebay, Blocked my emails and wont return phone calls. Yes, I've even called china.

Thanks to the good work of the devs in this thread, I was able to recover my 4GB/32GB SOM. It was impossible to get in recovery and I wanted Oreo on my MM SOM.
I made the special USB cable and used it to low level format the SOM. After that I could (in maskrom mode) install Android 8 recovery.
Then I installed most recent Dasaita stock ROM. Everything works as far as I have tested, exept for USB connection. For the first time I have a good working Google Maps now!
But: after many times hctreboot and power down + boot again, I still have no USB.

The HU is a Dasaita V600 series and I realy want to have back the USB connection! Any suggestions on how I can do that?

You must short those points with the board not connected to the PC and continue to keep them shorted when you plug the USB for a few seconds, then release the short. The chimes should be heard after approximately one second and see one maskrom device found.

I tried with a rigid wire exatly to that points many times but is not entering in maskrom mode, first short the som than plug in the usb cable. Thank you.
