I'm totally willing to solder in a replacement IC to get 3G access up and running on my Raphael. Unfortunately, I can't afford to donate one to the effort.
Does anyone have pics of the IC that would need to be replaced, and does anyone have any idea where to find a replacement?
Check the posts on the previous page for the links to amplifiers' datasheets. Take a look at
http://www.phonewreck.com for CDMA Raphael PCB images to get an idea of what the layout is like and where the amplifiers are situated.
If you are in service business, you would probably know some electronic components distributors who could get you Avago PAs. If not, then google/ebay it. If can't find one, then buying a broken Fuze and using its amplifiers is another possible approach.
Unless you have a service center level tools, don't even try this, it's next to impossible to properly remove and re-solder a surface mounted IC.
I agree with ViperBJK, probably the best solution is to introduce an add-on board, however it may also be impossible due to complications involved.
