Hey guys, thought I'd start this thread so that people have a place to ask me and the XDA community about all questions concerning Cyanogenmod nightlies and RCs. This is for people with Cyanogen on their Hero, so to everyone who has questions out there, fire away and I'll answer :D

Lets see... Well I rooted my Evo recently and as every one there is a problem loading cyanogenmod6 had to do with the boot loader... My phone has .93 bootloader will cyanogen make it so that I don't have to down grade my boot loader?

First try upgrading the radio. See my signature to do that. Also, use Rom Manager to fix permissions.

EDIT: Wait a minute, do you even have an Android phone or are you on Window's Mobile?

This is only for cyanogenmod on the Hero, I don't know anything about the Evo, that's why it's under Hero Q&A :D

What's changed in the newest nightly from RC1?

Not anything major. Compcache has been made available, but if you have Decad3nce's kernel installed then you'll have that already. Also some of the customized notifications have been taken out from Cyanogenmod settings I believe due to incompatibility. Overall, RC1 is still more stable.

What you need to make that work is to install the Sprint updater app as well along with it. See this post to get it going

Actually, there are all kinds of little things I like better in the nightlies, like the extra reboot options, touch to focus like on htc camera, being able to connect to ad-hoc networks, setting the colors of my email accounts - too much to list.

trouble updating

I'm running RC1 with gapps and black mod, with the circle battery theme from black theme as well. I have trouble betting past boot when I update, i.e. I am running Aug 15, when there have been a couple of updates, I think it's on Sept. 4th right now. I have updated all the themes to the corresponding RC1 release, and won't boot. I will add that I'm not wiping as it says you shouldn't have to. Bootloop! I can even go back to the previous version (Aug 15) with out wiping reapply older themes to go along with that release, and it loads right up! I get to the point where I don't even like to f$#% with it anymore because I get tired of going through the work of flashing like four zips for notta!:confused::confused:

While that may be so, rc1 is still more stable on a day to day basis IMO

Are you using an uncapped kernel?

No sir, just gapps, and the black mod. I even bought juice so I could quit using the collins battery fix.

Download an app called os monitor from the market and go to the third tab from the left and tell me what it says your frequency range is if you don't mind

do you mean the forth tab over where it tells my frequencey range? it's 19200-768000 with a current of 691000, but it drops when the screen shuts down.

Ok that's the problem... obviously on the new nightlies, the kernel is default and uncapped, hence your random reboots. Use set cpu or the battery tweak to lower your max frequency from 768 to about 710, that way you avoid the random reboots.

    I hope I have a good question...

I'm looking to get into the EPST Menu to logcat my MSL#. The reason is to reset my data connection, since I can only get 1X for a mobile network. My wife's phone... CM6.1 ROM, PRL 60671 (? i think) and the .29 radio... has always had the 3G icon at the top of her status bar... and when we're both home she has the 3G connection while mine is always 1X...

Am i going about this correctly?? BTW, I'm also CM6.1, my PRL is 60672, and the radio is .29. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help!

I have tried ##3282#... and it doesn't work. I've done #18 to localize to closest antenna and I did *#*#4636#*#*.

Download msl reader from the market and you will easily get your code...

im getting mad as hell trying to figure this out. i thought i understood how to do this but idk what the hell im doing wrong. im trying to port gomorrahs blackmod theme to jaybobs nov 28, i ONLY changed the colors of the files in drawable-mdpi by opening framework-res.apk with 7-zip and dragging the drawable-mdpi to my desktop then edited them one by one with GIMP making sure if the file is RGB i keep it RGB and if its Indexed i keep it indexed, then i opened the framework-res.apk and inserted the drawable-mdpi back into it and backed up til it asked if i wanted to update the framework and i selected yes, i have theme injector in C:\themeinjector and theme porter in C:\themeporter so theres no spaces (i read that could mess it up), i copied the nov 28 rom and blackmod into C:\themeinjector and ran the script, i also copied the framework folder from the blackmod and put it into C:\themeporter\old and the framework folder from nov28 and put it in C:\themeporter\new and ran that script (after the theme injector script was done). i did not port any apps on either. i then took the framework from C:\themeporter\new and opened the nov28 with 7-zip and pasted the new framework folder into it. i then took the ported theme and the injected theme and threw them on my sd and tried them both and both of them are giving me force closes on every app i try to open. sorry im being extremely thorough but i just want to know what the hell im doing wrong.

p.s. im really sorry about the rant but im obviously trying to learn.

Is it FCing even on apps not included in the rom?

I recently moved from freshrom 2.4.1 to CM6.1 stable. I've noticed a drop in my wireless (3g) performance. In places where I was usually showing half strength it's now showing no bars. I slip into 1x often and have even lost data connection. My battery life has gone down a bit and part of that has to be my phone hunting for signal. None of the above issues happened on stock rom's (1.6 and 2.1) or in freshrom.

One area that I know little about is radios. If anyone has a nice primer on flashing radios and what it actually does then I'd love to read it. Otherwise I just need to know if my signal issues are rom or radio related.

A big thank you to those who help others. You guys and/or gals rock.

    What's your baseband version?

    Ok, 4 files:

    status_bar_background_cust
    status_bar_background
    status_bar_item_background_focus_cust.9
    status_bar_item_background_pressed_cust.9

These control the grey and the color you'll get when you press on a notification.
