[Q&A] eZKAT 4.4.2 ROM

After much beer, and much wine I downloaded Philz latest CWM and let it wipe (after the million or so wipes that I did my phones arse was getting severely chaffed!) my phone for the clean install and it actually worked! (I am still confused why it worked this time and not any of the other thousand attempts using CWM, but that's food for thought for later...)

I, after 8,000,000,000,000,000 (yes I'm OCD if you haven't guessed) attempts and much frustration, now have a clean fresh install of this fine ROM. It's is awesome by the way.:good:

SNote force close???

After upgrading from eZKAT Beta to version 2.0 this morning I've been experiencing force close from the SNote app. It hasn't opened for me at all. Flashed and wiped about 5 times and this remains the only issue with the rom for me. Am I doing something wrong??? I couldn't find anybody else experiencing this problem

Sounds like maybe a bad flash. Try wiping 3 times back to back then installing 3 times in one recovery session. Anecdotally people seem to have the most success using Philz recovery.

I also having a similar problem with your suggestion to wipe 3 times do you mean a full data reset or wipe cache and dalvik cache? Just wondering

2. How do I tell what moden I have after flashing this rom bc I can't receive MMS messages and one person in the main thread for this rom suggested that I flash the att modem since I'm using an att note 2

I too cannot receive MMS through the native messenger app, but I am able to use Hangouts to send and receive MMS. Hope that may help. Also I went through Google and found what modem I have. Under settings and about phone you should be able to find Baseband. This is your current modem.

I too cannot receive MMS through the native messenger app, but I am able to use Hangouts to send and receive MMS. Hope that may help. Also I went through Google and found what modem I have. Under settings and about phone you should be able to find Baseband. This is your current modem.

I'm sorry I'm only running the EzKAT v2.0 n3 ROM and I use Beautiful Weather and Beautiful widgets for my weather app. I did not flash the S5 UI because I prefer the ezKAT v2.0 n3. Sorry I can't be of more help. I'm a pretty fresh noob to root and custom ROMs. If you figure out how to fix these issues I hope you post them here. I would definitely be interested what the solution is.

Same no Sim problem on i317m

Got it! It was the wrong radio I think? When I flashed I317MVLUCMK5 to the phone, everything went back to normal. I guess this is an incorrect rom for my phone? When I bought the phone, I was told it was an AT&T model but when I checked yesterday, it says SGH-i317M. Is this rom still useable for me?

You can delete modem.bin from the zip.

Ok, I have i317m (from what I understand the m at the end of the model# specifies that it's Canadian version, which I have). This is Canadian version of Note II, but I thought the Canadian version and the AT&T version use exact same modem and just labeled differently.

I am really novice at this so I'll just list what I did.

1, Flashed with firmware "RWC-I317MVLUDNF1" (Stock KitKat for i317m) with odin
2. Flashed with TWRP (openrecovery-twrp-2.7.2.2-t0lteatt.img.tar)
3. Restart the system. confirmed the SIM works with data and everything working fine
3. Into Recovery mode -> Factory reset, wipe and all that
4. installed "eZKAT_v2.0_n3feat.zip"
5. Restart and no SIM

So If I just get rid of the modem.bin from the zip file, it will keep the current "modem" settings?
I think I will give this a go, whether or not if i get an answer.

Figured out how to get the s5 weather widget to work after you flash the zip provided on page 193 on the main thread reboot unzip the file and install the weather app itself and it worked

It does you have to be in good sunlight.. doesn't work that great..

Mms is based on your apn settings. If they are not correct you will not be able to send them. I do believe the messaging app has a play in as well

I can confirm this method works for Canadian note 2 (i317m) with this rom.

Before step 4 from my earlier post. I made "eZKAT_v2.0_n3feat(no_modem) ).zip" by just simply removing "modem.bin" from the original file. Works well.

BTW. I hate this stupid s finder. It used to bring up "Google now" to search, when I long-hold the menu button. Now, it's giving me s finder.
After digging thru xda for some answers to how I can set it so that the Google now comes up, I'm guessing it's the Note 3-base rom thing?

Maybe a little trivial, but how do I get a carrier logo on the notification bar? Or add a custom logo?

I noticed a radio app. Doesn't work on my AT&T version. Is the hardware even there on this version?

Radio hardware not present in any note2 lte phones(n7105, i317 and t889) that I'm aware of.

I have went over my APN settings and even contacted my provider to double check the settings. Everything is set correctly and I do have the correct modem, but still unable to use the stock messaging app.

Edit build prop where you see toltexx change to tolteatt or toltetmo whichever carrier you are one and reboot and reflash carrier modem.

I currently do not a have a carrier logo on my status bar. Dunno why or how but I would like to have one there, just a custom one if possible. I flashed with att version but using straight talk. Everything works as it should, just no logo on status. BTW, I do get ATT on the lockscreen.

If you want a custom logo then use Wanam Xposed. I don't have att on my lockscreen just in notification bar
