I rooted my phone with TWRP about a month ago..and did the recent update today. Now I'm afraid that I've bricked my phone. I tried to install the default rom that I had backed up. But that doesn't work. does anyone have any ideas to what I should do next or is it too late?

Sounds like both of you need to use flashtool and get back to stock and start over. If you read the official threads about zv6 it clearly states that root is blocked so don't take or manually flash the update if u want to keep root and also how to block it from auto updating.

Just to be sure, you do realize there is no root for this yet. Right? Which means you're stuck with stock until root is found. And, your bootloader will be locked. So no flashing of anything.

If that's the case, then move it to root of Internal SD. Then it should find it.
Make sure to check the md5sum also to make sure you have a good DL.
It should work, but as I said, I haven't done this with stock recovery yet. Just so you know.

You can also just flash one of the ZV6 Rom's in Development. That way you keep root/unlock.
I tried to install the OTA file as well and I can not. I put the zip in the root of internal and the root of external sd with no luck finding it in the stock recovery menu. If i click external sdcard it says e:failed to mount /sdcard (Invalid argument), cache it cannot find it, ADB i don't have a side load tool. Any ideas?

Has anyone confirmed they can still keep root after taking the OTA for ZV6? Im rooted only and not really concerned with flashing anything. I only want root so i don't want to use the twrp and flash. Thanks in advance

If I update...

Hi,

1. So if I update to ZV6, will I be able to wipe everything and downgrade back to ZV4 to re-root using the LG Flash tool? I think this was said mentioned somewhere but I wanted to make sure.

2. If so, would the directions be different? And if I wanted to un-root I would use the ZV4 file to flash back stock. Would I be able to re-root it later or should I check to see if there is a root method for ZV6?

3. Would it be better to root first because I am considering to root.

3.5 On the post it says that " If you wish to use ZV6 and have root you must install Bump'd TWRP while on ZV4 then manually flash the ZV6...... you may be able to root on ZV4 then take the official ZV6 OTA update and keep root." Has anyone proved this working yet?

4. Also one question that has been on my mind for a while, When I root and install a custom recovery, I know it will void my warranty. If I flash back to stock using the LG Flash Tool, would they ever know that I was rooted with a custom recovery? Is there a flash counter or anything? Do you know how far the flash tool will work? Like if the OS won't boot and TWRP can't restore backup or I forgot to back-up, will the flash tool still work?

Sorry for all the questions, I've wanted to ask people that know this stuff instead of asking my friends :good:

Thanks for your help! :good:

(this is my first or second time posting on XDA, sorry if these questions is invalid or not supposed to be here)

*Update*

I got to work and had my coworker format and download the OTA file onto an sd card on his linux machine. I still got e:failed to mount /sdcard (Invalid argument)

I then downloaded Google SDK and then was able to use ADB Sideload to load the update. It updated and all is well. :good::highfive:

Coming from Samsung and HTC, i've never had so much trouble updating from an SD card. It normally updates without issue.

So I'm going to admit here that I'm a little new to LG mostly owned HTC's in the past and I'm a little confused on all that I would actually need to update.

I'm currently on CM12 and don't really plan on going back to stock unless I would really need to.
Should I flash any of these files? Mostly referring to modem in this case.

Tried to read into the thread a little bit but apparently I'm the only one who is confused :p

There's flashable modems in the Stock ZV6 Rom thread. If that's all you need.

ZV6 battery drain and slow charge.

Has anyone who's stock, non root experienced any battery drain issues? I've noticed that my battery is draining at leat 15 to 20% faster and when i charge my phone from a USB port in my computer it takes a long time to charge now.
