It's Updater script issue. Use Luk's method. His method works on flashing Stock ROM.
Hey, I flashed stock using Luk's method and phone works completely fine. The only issue is that it automatically restarts the moment I touch the keyboard or dialing pad.

Edit : same thing happens when i use Bluetooth or 3rd party dialers

GUYS I really need help here. Media files can't be upload after taking them, you need to restart your device in order to upload them. I tried it already. I took a picture, I took a screenshot, but when I am going to upload it somewhere it can't be uploaded.

I'm using RR on my ZOOLD

Clean Flash latest GApps package or try a new Rom

OS is LineageOS 14 (7.1)
With latest TWR

Been using my ZE551KL normally without installing anything new for the past 10 days.. Today I rebooted it hoping to fix a weak phone signal but got a bootloop.
I want to fix this loop without wiping data.

Tried wiping dalvic and cache via TWR without luck.
Tried installing LineageOS latest update file. Also no luck.

I have a full backup file I took of the same OS I via TWR but I don't to restore it and lose recent camera photos etc.

Is there a way I could partly restore the old backup file so that recent apps and photos are not lost?

Thanks

You can copy your photos to an SD card using the twrp built in file manager, you'll find it under advanced i think, then you can restore your data backup and copy back the files from the sd card

Thanks a lot. I realized that later and moved everything, and fully [not partially] restored my backup and the bootloop didn't go away ...

Then I restored my 2 months old CM backup and that also didn't solve it.

Wiped data,,,no dice.. then tried cache/dalvic.. then tried wiping internal memory then restoring again.. All don't work. Still get bootlooped whenever the OS animation starts, whether it's Lineage's animation or CM's. Sometimes it bootloops before the animation, just before the animation starts.

My backup image has "Boot/System/Data" if that matters....
Do you think I should restore an ASDF image from my brother's phone which is same model and OS?

If anyone got an idea on how to solve this, please let me know. I'm all ears.

I'm not too sure about the internals so I don't know if this will work, but you can try to repair the data file System in twrp (in advanced Wipe)
And don't restore the system partition, instead flash your ROM and Gapps zip.

Ok, tried wiping everything [dalvic/system/data/internal/cache] and flashed a fresh Lineage ROM then gapps for a brand new system.... no luck... Same bootloop.

I also tried what you suggested and went to "Advanced Wipe" and repaird the "Data" file system. Also didn't help.

This is starting to feel like a brick instead of a bootloop haha.
Has anyone had this bootloop before?

Try wiping boot, but with caution cause if you don't flash a ROOM zip after that, you might not be able to enter recovery (it was like that with my sony, I'm not sure about it with my Z00L, but you can never be too careful)
Also be sure to take a backup of your boot partition after you do this.

If this doesn't fix it, I don't know what will,

Ohh and was your phone encrypted?

This sounds promising but how can I wipe boot?
I went through all TWRP options and couldn't find it.

Edit: sorry didn't see your question.. it was Not encrypted..

I think it should be under Advanced under Wipe in TWRP.

If it's not, you can extract your boot.img from your rom zip, put it in your phones internal storage, then flash it with twrp (after selecting the img/image button in install), that should have the same effect as wiping the boot.img

Did exactly what you suggested:
1- Wiped :[dalvik/cache/internal/system/data]
2- flashed boot.img
3- flashed a fresh LineageOS zip then Gapps like usual
4- rebooted...
No luck. Same bootloop... It reboots right before the OS animations.

So now we've tried the following:
  1. Flashing a fresh Lineage rom and Gapps after wiping.
  2. Restoring two backup images [lineage/CM] that contain boot/sys/data.
  3. Wiping cache/dalvik does nothing.
  4. Repairing all partitions' file system.
  5. Wiping everything, then wiping boot, then flashing a fresh Lineage rom.
  6. Removing battery for 10 minutes.

Could it be possible that I have a board malfunction in my ZE551KL?

It was running smoothly until I restarted it to enhance signal strength and this stubborn bootloop just happened... No new apps or anything in the past 10 days.

Has anyone here experienced this before? :silly:

This is a bit worrying to me now, is your Lineage Zip fine? Could it be a corrupted rom zip?

OKAY, THE WEIRDEST THING JUST HAPPENED, hahaha.

While the phone was bootlooping the entire ~15minutes after trying your method of wiping everything/flashing boot.img/then flashing a rom..... ... And while I was writing a reply, I glance at the phone and VIOLA, the Lineage set-up window is there.. hahaha.. It worked!

It bootlooped probably for 10minutes, then just booted properly.. This is the first time I've heard of this behavior, haha.

Regarding your note, Don't think the rom was corrupted because I used the the Lineage rom.zip from my update folder [20th/Oct] from my old data before wiping and flashing, and when it didn't work I re-downloaded the rom file from Lineage's official website:
https://download.lineageos.org/Z00T
Note to mention trying to restore two backup images from 1month and 4 months ago namely a LineageOS from September and a very stable CM backup that I used many times before.

Anyhow, thanks a lot gavinfernandes2012.. Flashing boot.img probably fixed this. It took ~10minutes of bootlooping before it worked but I think it was the magic touch. You're a wizard hahaha .

Thanks again! Appreciate it!

Quick update:

The phone booted and after the initial setup I turned it off,,, Turned it on again and the bootloop returned hahaha... Oh well..

This is most probably a hardware malfunction.. Has anyone experienced this before?
My battery was degrading bad lately.. 1.5 hrs of screen time at the most.

Ughhh so close, but wait, there might be a way if you can get it to boot once more and turn on adb debugging and get a logcat. From there we can go through it looking for errors. Are you familiar with grabbing logcat? If not just mention it and I'll guide you through it.

(PS the real wizards are the ROM and kernel Devs here, I have them to thank for what knowledge I have)

New battery

Hello Guys,

I've recently upgrade my battery from the stock 2070 mah bat to the larger 2400 mah battery... I'm on stock rom and the FIRST full charge went well from mid empty to full (100%) using the charge from off, then unplug, turn on and recharge til green "100%".

The battery is working well, but since that first charge, I can't get it to charge to 100%, even when i leave it over night it stops around 95% and the light always stays orange (charging).

Is there some way to edit the battery stats so it knows it needs to charge to 2400, or is it just some hard coded sensor or something?

thanks :)
