Weird Touch Freeze on OP3T Oreo
Hi,
I bought a used oneplus 3t couple of months back and I have had weird touch screen issues. I am not sure if it has it's screen replaced or not. Initially I thought that it was because of the screen but the problem probably lies somewhere else and I hope that someone can help me figure it out and correct it. Anyway, here is the issue:
- The screen does not respond to initial couple of touches when woken up, but after a few tries it works fine.
- Scroll and touch gets mixed up. When I am scrolling through the menu or anything the device registers a touch and opens up where ever my finger is placed. Note that this happens when i am scrolling slowly and I still have my finger on the screen without lifting it up. I was able to correct (not completely) this issue by changing 'pointer speed' and 'touch & hold delay' settings. But the problem is still there. Note that I have tried other OP3T devices and haven't experienced this issue there.
- Now here is the main issue with touch. There are 2 scenarios:
Scenario 1: When the phone is placed on the table and I touch the home button, the screen turns on, all the buttons work fine but the screen does not respond to any touch (no matter how many times i try). Now, when I lift up the phone in my hand and move it a little and try again, after the first few failed touches it starts to respond and then it works fine. This happens every time i leave my phone idle for some time.
Scenario 2: I tried this again as in the first scenario but this time I had it plugged it to a charger. This time no freeze or touch issue occurred and the phone responded to the first touch (just like it is supposed to), regardless whether I pick it up or leave it on the table.
So, I concluded that the 'touch freeze' issue is related to movement of the phone (gyro/accelerometer) and it is also related to charging.
When being charged, almost no touch issue found.
I have searched this issue on the net and found that people had touch issue with previous OS versions but they got fixed with official android update. But my phone is already updated to Android 8.0 and I am unable to find anyone having the same issue as mentioned above.
Note that I have tried the above with and without the glass screen protector. The issue is still there in both cases.
I have made videos to show both scenarios but I am unable to post the links to them due to new user policy.
Looking forward to a fix to this issue.
