I think it's hardware related. It's possible that your main camera is somehow damaged, but the telephoto (secondary camera) is alright. That's how you got some success with zoom. Have you tested the cameras in factory mode?
Do you mean safe mode? I just tested in safe mode and it made no difference.

I suppose what you said makes sense. My next step is to take it to a phone repair shop then?

No, not safe mode, factory mode. You can access it by typing *#808# on your phone dial pad. If you're on 9.0.1, swipe right until you find the camera collumn. There you cam test the rear (main one, probably damaged in your case) and second back (telephoto one, should be alright).
And yes, I think in this case you have to visit a repair centre

Hello OnePlus 5 community.

I've had this device for a year now and I'm fairly educated about custom ROMs, recoveries and rooting process.

I'm concerned about the downside of rooting OnePlus 5.

My main benefit of rooting is to be able to record the internal audio for my gaming channel.

How can i achieve that after rooting? And will it work with AZ screen recorder which allows audio recording but says that internal audio recording is not allowed by android.

Will i be able to dirty flash the OOS updates from OnePlus official updates?

Thank you.

Hello,

What kind of downside are you referring now?

As I am aware, AZ Screen recorder never asked me for root permission, so you won't be able to record internal audio with this app. I would try to Google a bit or wait for another responses.

About OOS Updates, the only big change is, that you'll have to download the whole rom (approx 1,7GB files) and flash it using TWRP. You can find more information about dirty flashing and full zips here

You mean I cannot flash hotfixes. I'm okay with that. But is dirty flashing the whole rom will bring up any issues?

Technically: There are no issues flashing the whole rom when you cannot flash incremental updates.
Personal: the download is bigger and it takes some more steps as you can read(link you received before).
I just don't want to spend time doing backups and restoring them. Thanks.

Hello guys, I was on the pie beta with xxx module. One day I have an update so as usual I'm updating the room and what not but this time arround it didn't work and I lost the recovery. I still have the room working (not updated tho) but I don't have a recoveryy, it goes directly to the bootloader. Si I tried to flash twrp via the bootloader but it doesn't work, goes straight to bootloader. So then I tried to flash the classic recovery and it boots to the recovery bu I don't see any files. I have access to my room and all but I don't have a recovery. Do you have any idea what's the issue? Thanks!

After you flash the twrp recovery with fastboot you need to flash magisk to make the twrp recovery sticky and not be overwritten by stock recovery.
You need to flash the twrp recovery with:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Like the first time.

Yeah but when I do that I don't have access to the internal storage with the classic recovery and with twrp it doesn't even boot. Do I have to flash magisk with fastboot as well?

Hello,

Recently I installed Magisk and some mod like the PixelMod or better camera enhancement.

But doing so I broke the camera app which doesn't record anymore in 1080p with the very nice stabilization.

I tried to uninstall the mod but I'm not sure if I'm doing right. Cause it's still broken.

What can I do?
And for to remove properly Magisk mod?

Thanks

To remove magisk modules, use magisk manager or flash the modules again.
To remove Magisk completely, use magisk uninstaller

Hello,
iam new user oneplus 5. With OOS 9.0.2 + Bootloader unlock + Magisk v18 installed + TWRP blu_spark latest.
So.. When i want FULL backup my Rom.
there are many partitions,
- Boot < Tick by Default
- Cache
- Recovery
- System < Tick by Default
- System Image
- Vendor
- Vendor Image
- Data (excl. Storage) < Tick by Default
- Modem
- EFS

1. Its mandatory to tick all partitions?
2. Which Recomended partitions need to backup?
3. Where i can find info about those partitions? my previous old device Galaxy S5 G900F dont has that many partitions

The default partitions are fine + efs but that's already done with the bootloader unlock guide.
Where you can find information about partitions? Did you used Google search? You'll find lot of information :)

Hey guys,
I found some (probably) bug with the alarm. I have set up the volume buttons and power button for snooze. But when the alarm is ringing and the display is faced down, pressing the volume buttons controls the alarm sound volume (or it turn the display off in case of power button) instead of snoozing. So basically when you press volume down long enough, suddenly you'll have alarm volume off, and you'll miss the next one. When the display is faced up, everything works fine.
Anyone has the similiar issue or an advice how to fix it? (I already tried to delete cache, alarm app data, currently not very fancy into factory reset)
Thanks

I need some advice please. I am on OOS Pie with Magisk and decrypted (using xXx NoVerity with xXx Magisk ROM). I now need to install an email app which will sync with my corporate account and this requires encryption (I am unable to bypass Exchange policy).
Question: how do I go back to encrypted without loosing data? Do I allow the email app to encrypt device - would there be any problem with this?

Just backup your internal storage and transfer the files back after you get rid of the no force encryption status:

Re-Encrypt data partition:
1. Go to “Wipe” section, tap “Format Data”, and type “yes”
2. Transfer stock Oxygen Rom to the device over MTP
3. Go to “Install” section, select the Oxygen rom, and swipe to confirm the flash

Would there be a problem if I go to Settings - Security & Lockscreen - Encryption & Credentials - Encrypt phone
This should also encrypt without having to wipe/format data?
