I have tried installing the following roms on my OP5
HavocOS
CarbonROM
Pixel Experience
The installation goes on fine but on booting the file transfer option does not work.
All other options work.
The file transfer option only works while in recovery mode.
Any help would be appreciated
When you connect your phone to your PC, the standard mode is charging only. You'll get a popup in the notification area telling you exactly that. Clicking on that popup enables you to change the mode to file transfer. Or does exactly that not work? If yes, do you use any addons like magisk or other stuff other than the ROM itself?

There are 2 versions of Blu_Spark TWRP 3.100 = one has f2fsFix in the name.
My question is - which Blu_Spark TWRP is the latest stable version for Oneplus 5?
(I am currently on 9.91 without any problems but wanted to update recovery before updating ROM to 9.0.5)

@strongst how you recommended, I tried again install TWRP. Follow the log how you requested.

Since now, thank you so much
Thanks for the log, which seems OK, no issues. So 2 suggestions I recommend to try.

1. Use codeworkx 3.2.3 recovery like twrp-3.2.3-0-20190311-codeworkx-cheeseburger.img and repeat the fastboot flash and boot like you did

2. Fastboot oem lock your device after backup all off your device and repeat flashing 3.3 recovery again after unlocking your bootloader.

@strongst if I update for beta 31 by sideload mode, can I repair any problem this way?

- you can download it from the phones system updater, but if you have root, it will be detected and you're forced to download the full rom. As explained before and as you read: no more partial otas, but there's NO downside besides the special flashing instructions, some more time consuming procedure and ~1.8GB to download each time
Hello again! So, I've just received an update notification for my op5. The updater notified me it has detected my phone is rooted and that i would lose that after installing the update. Like you posted before, it downloaded a full rom (1.8 gb) which os not a problem at all since it does it overnight.

So, 2 questions:
a) can i safely install this new 1.8gb update without damaging anything else, except root? (Will still backup all my files)
b) after i update and lose root, do i just follow the normal procedure to get it back? (Flash twrp and magisk zip file)

Thanks!

Sure that CAN eliminate issues maybe, then you're on stock recovery and you can flash twrp like the first time. I would recommend to boot the rom once.

I'm on:
- OxygenOS 9.0.4
- Build number A5000_23_190222
- Team Win Recovery Project 3.2.3-x | blu_spark v9.91
- Magisk V7.1.2 (208)

I have no mods installed. Just stock rom, twrp and magisk. I have some magisk modules installed, to be able to natively record calls and to have Youtube Vanced installed.

Ok, then it's like described here for dirty flashing https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...xygenos-4-5-2-7-1-1-ota-t3627003/post72799040 if you are encrypted just flash no verity like described at the end. No need to remove compatibilit.zip or update twrp before and after.

Hint: v7. 1.2 is the magisk manager Version not the magisk version. But I guess it's 18.1 or 19.1?

You can simply install all magisk modules right after you've installed magisk again.

Yeah,, magisk is 19.1. Thanks for the info. The procedure on that link for dirty flashing if trough the recovery. Is it fine if i use the updater included with oos, the one that automatically downloads the updates?

That's not possible since you need to flash twrp along with magisk before the first boot and built in oos updater won't do that for you.

If you do that you need to flash twrp again with fastboot, then magisk and when you are decrypted the rom won't boot, cause no verity patch is needed too.

So easier to do linke I linked imo.

Thanks! Worked like a charm (so far). Luckily i didn't have to download the ROM again as i was able to use the one already downloaded by the updater. Checked the MD5 checksum and it's the same that's available on the link you provided.

In case anyone is reading this, uninstall magisk, wipe cache+dalvik, install rom, install magisk, delete cache+dalvik. I was using a rooted encrypted rom.

Hi there,
I'm actually running an OxigenOS 5.1.7 version (rooted w/ magisk v18.0), and I'd like to to update my OP5 and run the newest version.
Didn't upate a few months ago (when the pie version came out) since it wasn't on point.
Can someone enlighten me on details and what to do to get to this version from 5.1.7 ? I suppose I can't dirty flash the way I always do for updates, so I need advices :D

Thanks!

Hello, that's quite simple, just follow the instructions for dirty flashing here(but read the complete first post!) if you want to stay on the stable channel for OxygenOS https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...xygenos-4-5-2-7-1-1-ota-t3627003/post72799040 (you can update your twrp after you're on 9.0.5.

Hello guys, I've recently rooted the phone, installed magisk and upgraded Android stock to its last version.

I'm having some problems, especially with netflix and YouTube vanced.

The problem is that, meanwhile I'm in fullscreen mode, both apps minimize in pip mode or close randomly.
The problem is even worse when the phone is charging.
Any suggestion?
So far I've found no solutions.
Thank you!

I was wondering, is it possible to dirty flash the latest version without doing all the backup - restore process if I'm already on 9.0.4. (January security patch)?
Additional : I'm on Stock ROM with Magisk.

[SOLVED] The problem was imputable to the Antitheft app "cerberus" which was continously asking for root permission. The solution consisted in going into the magisk settings and giving to cerberus automatic permissions.
