How to flash various recovery on Mi3 (or Any device) using just phone or with PC?

I would like to know how to install various recovery like CWM, TWRP, Mi Recovery, etc. on Xiaomi Mi3.
Can anyone explain the complete procedure of doing so using just mobile phone and also using phone and PC (windows) both?
I want to know the various softwares required (with downloadable links preferably).
I would also like to know the risks of installing recovery and what could go wrong.

You can do it Without computer, just extract the .img file from the zip. Use an app like rashr or flashify and flash this img file (working for cwm and TWRP, I don't know if it works with Mirecovery). You need to be rooted.
Normally no risk for your phone if you do it.
But there is always a brick risk.

Why I can't flash those zip(candy 5,PA...)with this twrp version
The Mi3 arrives with 2 system partitions, where the ROMs and Gapps sit. Each one is set up for 600MB. Nice idea, but 600MB is not a lot of space.

TWRP works against partition nº 1.

Could be that you don't have sufficient space, depending on the ROM + Gapps combination you're trying to install.

Or that you are booting up with partition nº 2.

Anyway, first step is to use CWM to repartition partition nº 1 to use almost all of the 1.2GB. CWM works on both partitions. There is a repartition thread which explains all the steps you must take. Just read it carefully a couple of times and you'll be fine.

Once you have everything on partition 1 - since TWRP runs against nº 1 there is no point in maintaining the second one with its original size - you can then flash the TWRP image/zip, and all ROM/Gapps should then install OK

Tested

Confirmed working with my Mi4 via Fastboot and also USB OTG worked perfect for backup, even connecting it after boot. Thanks for all your hard work.
