[Q&A] [ROM][5.0.1] OmniROM for GT-I8190 S3 Mini

8190N?

Does anyone of you use this rom with 8190N? Are the hardware keys (menu/back/home) working? Because in some videos on YouTube about omnirom on s3mini 8190N they were not working.

Is offline charging working? Any known issues? Is the rom fully translated to german? Or at least the most important parts?

Does sound recording work? In original thread it's mentioned that there's a problem with the mic, so speech to text and ok Google won't work?

If it would be my phone, I would just try it, but it's for my wife and so I can't test lots of ROMs before deciding

I have 8190N and all the above works just fine. Translation is ok, except for some ROM-special items (might be translated to german too, cause the developer is Austrian).

The issues i found:
-NFC won't work
-Google clock app needs some additional setting up and a bit of magic to work fine
Realy rarely happened issues, but still:
-GSM crushes, works fine after rebooting the phone.
-Touch screen doesn't respond. After switching off and switching on the screen works fine.
-Random apps crushes, need to restart the app.

In original thread it's mentioned that there's a problem with the mic.

Keep in mind, that ROM is still in development. Some of the issues decribed in the thread might be out of date.

How can I enable developer options? Tapping 7 times on build number only opens a game, but the options don't appear in menu.

Ou are sure you're tapping on the build number? I just checked, and it says I am already developer. The game opens taping on the android version

Hi, i just wanted to ask if compass is working for you? I tried it with the latest build of omnirom (both stock and fred's kernel) and compass is not working. Tried it with the apps "GPS Test" and "komoot" - GPS is fine but no compass. I can provide logcat if necessary. Thanks!!

PS.: on novafusion.pl maclaw writes that compass is working in his cm 12.1 relase - can somebody confirm that? Haven't tested cm12.1 yet because I was looking for a more lightweight rom.

Ou are sure you're tapping on the build number? I just checked, and it says I am already developer. The game opens taping on the android version

Flashed it and everything was working perfect except for the battery. Seems to have a battery drain, but weird since battery % stays stuck on a certain percentage. Then after i reset the device the percentage updates with a massive drop. The battery is new and its not happening on another ROM im using (Virginity).

Tried several governors, sakuractive with noop the latest.

I stopped the most commom wakelocks my phone has, including Fast Dormancy since the carrier in my country doesnt support it.

Any help would be great. I've read some posts with people getting 2 days on a charge which is what im getting on the other ROM. If i can fix this ill be able to use it as daily driver.

I think hw acceleration its not working properly. For example using BSplayer for streaming can't play in hw mode decoding, and it goes to sw mode, what is very laggy. I wonder if there is a fix for that or if it will be fixed soon.
On the other hand, thanks to the developer, awesome rom!

GSM Crashing

I have an issue, GSM crashes on my GT-I8190N. I'm not sure about the case, but happens a lot for me when i leave my phone standby with wi-fi turned off (not sure about wi-fi should be turned on, but unreachable).

I'm using "Omni_golden-userdebug 5.1.1 LYZ28J eng.stefan.20151103 test-keys" with default kernel and tk_gapps-stock-5.1.1-20151004-signed. Happenes with interactive and zzmoove governors.

Any suggestions?

It says E:unable to unzip binary updater file
E:error mounting /system
Updating paritition details
But i restored the backup without any errors
Can anyone help me to install it?
Baseband version:i8190xxamb4
Android version:4.1.2

IT WORKED!

It worked successfully without any errors
But is there a way to record video because I tried several apps without luck
Also in developer options I accidently pressed "simulate secondary display" and my phone turned off and won't boot again.
I've done a factory reset and it worked again
And if I install supersu will my phone become laggy?

The problem is solved , i waited about 15-20min for the installation and it installed
