General Questions & Answers
Is root access included into LineageOS ?
No longer included by default to improve user security.

An addon is shared to add SuperUser features : https://download.lineageos.org/extras.
It will survive to updates the same way GApps do.

Go into Settings, About Phone. Tap "Build number" 7 times.
Go back, open Developer options. Change "Root access" option.

Do not use SuperSU unless you are sure, creates booting issues.
Read more about it : Here.

Is the ROM suited for daily usage ?
Yes but work in progress.

Can I flash LineageOS on official and development builds, or even on CM without wipes ?
Migrations from unofficial to official, and from CM builds, are not possible.

Always remember to do backups before doing such changes.

Is the device encryption supported ?
State unknown. If you're coming from an older ROM
please read the details here : a07afb9660a86f702066003b8e81ab63789d1660

When USB connected to a computer, I can't access the storage ?
The phone is in charge-only mode by default on Nougat,
due to a stronger security logic regarding unauthorised data access.
Swipe down the notifications and change the USB mode.

I can't access the ROM's recovery with Volume-
You can either flash the boot.img from the newer Releases with "fastboot flash boot boot.img" or FlashTool,
or follow the instructions of the TWRP Recovery installation to update from TWRP.

Due to an unknown issue in data, the partition still looks like a 2GB
Although very unlikely, it may be possible that your data had an error
that could not be fixed automatically by the time you did the UserData Unification.
Read the ROM instructions and check downloads links on the device's LineageOS Wiki page.
Export the resize_userdata.zip from the unify_userdata zip (from UserData Unification),
and flash it from your recovery. If it works, problem solved.

Against advice, I upgraded without GApps and now it crashes. Any way without factory reset ?
Yes there is, but nothing assures you'll manage to do it fully & preserve all your data...
Once booted, keep saying Ok to all "Unfortunately, ... has stopped",
pull-down the notifications panel, press the Settings icon,
go in Apps, menu, Show System, scroll to Setup Wizard (green Android logo),
Permissions, and activate Contacts + Telephone.
Later, some Play Store apps may need reinstalling.
If not working, then I advise a clean factory-reset reinstallation...

Hello Adrian, first of all, thanks for your awsome builds, expecially this one. :)

I have a problem with my Xperia V: during offline charging the backlight doesn't turn off with both AOSP and LineageOS 8.1 Oreo. With the latest builds from april (04-13 for Lineage and 04-23 for AOSP) i have also another issue: when i press the power button it show the battery icon and then it freezes up. I experienced the backlight issue since the early AOSP builds from january. In all the roms based on Nougat the offline charge works perfectly.

Every time i made a clean installation with the latest TWRP 3.2.1.0. Before the first try, in january, i was coming directly from this stock firmware, because i had to recover the phone from a brick a few months before. I have an aftermarket Li-Ion battery from Polarcell.

What i already tried:

- flash boot.img from every rom itself at first;
- clean install with and without gapps (micro and pico);
- hard reset.

I've read that some people experienced the same issue also with Xperia SP and T, but i can't find any solution. I guess a logcat is not useful in this case, but if i'm wrong, let me know.

Thanks in advance for any answer.

That's an issue I'm currently working on, it affects Xperia SP / T / TX / V on specific dual-backlight displays.
Thanks for the answer, Adrian. :good:

Just another question: since i converted the file system of cache and data to f2fs, the system doesn't show any battery usage stats regardless of the rom installed. It's not a big issue because i use Betterbatterystats, but i would like to know if there is any correlation. Thanks again and good work. :)

xxx stopped

hi
i installed lineage-15.1-20190123 with open_gapps-arm-8.1-nano-20190317 and my sony v(tsubasa) work well and have no problem but when i upgrade to lineage-15.1-20190314 my apps like messages, gallery , music and special media not work and say for example music stopped or android media process stopped even when messages come tom my phone or any one calling my phone audio not work for this .

This Problem even affect AOSP roms for tsubasa(sony v).

Note:I use lineage-15.1-20190314 boot.img as recovery and i format my External sd card as Internal.

How i do to fix this ?

I mean this is very bad to full wipe every time when i upgrade to newer version.

i added logcats for you if you need more plz mention me.
