Can't get passed "checking for update screen"

Hey dude, I flashed your rom, did everything as described in original posts, but I can't seem to get passed the "checking for updates" screen, my internet connection is working but it keeps telling me to check connection and retry, no option to skip.

How do I fix this was really excited to try out your rom man :crying:
