I got my razr maxx awhile back and read enough on here to root my phone. Here's my problem: I'm not proficient enough and don't exactly remember how I went about it! Now I want to do the update but I'm not sure how to proceed and don't want to brick it. If someone could take a look at where I'm at and give me some direction i would really appreciate it! I do have SuperSU installed

system version:
6.16.211.XT912.VERIZON.EN.US

Model:
Droid Razr Maxx

Android version:
4.0.4

Baseband version
CDMA_N_05.11.01PLTEDC_U_09.1100

kernel version:
3.0.8-g29cf5e7......

Build number:
6.7.2-180_dhd-16_M4-31

thanks for any direction!!!

1. Get voodoo OTA rootkeeper
2. Make a backup of root
3. Make sure everything is unfrozen/not disabled
4. Temp unroot
5. Hit OTA survival (or equivalent) under Superuser
6. Take the OTA
7. After OTA, download Voodoo again
8. Restore root
9. Reboot

This is how I kept my root and took the OTA.

Did a little research, turns out you need the pro version for OTA survival.
So, pony up whatever the pro version costs, or reinstall superuser and use the free version (which is what I did, so I know that works).

1 install boot menu manager from market.
2 boot to it and choose second system, it should change color to another.
3 install new ROM, probably CyanogenMod will be best option here, because you don't need to flash new kernel and your first system will be bootable.
