It does matter, because e.g. claiming something in the title that isn't valid (anymore) is misleading IMHO some (less experienced) users. And apps on system claim less space and provide faster boot than those on the data partition.
And actually there are packages that do an updated build every time the tiniest update is pushed, like opengapps.org that do daily releases and Slim is pushing also an update at least once a week. But those don't claim to be up-to-date, but they actually are compared to TK now.

I am not unhappy or unsatisfied with the speed of updates. But I am thinking about helping out fellow new users.

That's a valid suggestion. I've gone ahead and clearly indicated that this package is presently on hiatus. No ETAs of course, since really I know about as much as everyone else at this point, but @TKruzze has been spending some much needed time with his family and evaluating different options for Marshmallow going forward.

In the meantime, my GApps Auto-Integration script (AKA gappsintegrator) will take any GApps package and continue to automatically integrate newer updates you receive from the Play Store. It works flawlessly on KitKat and Jelly Bean and I've had good reports on AOSP Lollipop along with my own testing, so that's a nice hands-free, set-and-forget option people could check out to get the "GApps fix" monkey off their backs once and for all. ;)

It's things like this that make devs NOT update their work. If TKruzze went on hiatus, it's for a reason. This isn't his job. He doesn't have to push out updates. Especially at this time of year, this is his time to be with them. This is a hobby. Hopefully, everything is okay with TKruzze and his family.

I am sorry if I am asking the obvious, but how do I use the gappsintegrator script. I copied it into /system/etc/init.d changed permissions, removed the .txt extension and rebooted, but nothing happened. What am I doing wrong?

Check /sdcard for a log. If there isn't one then there's something wrong with init.d on your ROM. Try su.d instead. See both linked posts about gappsintegrator in my Odds and Ends thread OP and please post there if you have any further trouble since it is also off topic for here.

Hail!
After performing the upgrade to the 12.1 CM, I used TK gapps.

I have a problem in the download rate of the play store, usually is no more than 10 kbps
someone is with this bug?

Instructions for .gapps_config placement weren't crystal clear to me, does it go in the same folder as the flashable zip or in the zip?
If it goes in the same folder rather than in the zip itself (like \folder\.gapps_config and \folder\gapps.zip), will it still work when sideloading in TWRP?

INTRODUCTION
To modify the default behavior of the GApps installer, create a text file called .gapps-config or gapps-config.txt (.gapps-config will take precedence) and place it in the same folder as the GApps zip or in /sdcard/TK-GApps. Additionally, if your device has a Persist partition, you may place the file there as well. Note that the zip folder, followed by /sdcard/TK-GApps will be checked first. Once you've created the gapps-config file, simply type in the Key Word options you want from the lists below.

Same folder.

Not sure on the sideload procedure. Sdcard / usb-otg to flash from may be safer bet.

Take a look at here:
Yes, I read that, and was still unsure. It seems odd to me to put it in the same folder instead of in the zip itself.

Anywho, I solved the problem I needed the gapps for and made a backup, so I guess I'll test using sideload with the text file tonight when I'm at my home pc and post results here so we all know for sure.

Haha, and the opposite would seem odd to me.
I like the fact that I can download a platform-GApps package once and drop it on multiple devices, where it behaves differently/unique on each. This in-zip procedure would take a lot more work, even if only used for a single one, as you would have to modify it each and every time you want to apply latest GApps.
Not sure if they are signed (I'dexpect that), but if so, it would also break that.

1: That link is broken.
Fix: http://teckfront.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Google-Now-Launcher-from-Android-5.0-Lollipop-3.png

1: 2: This is the wrong place to ask that, as it is a question pertaining to your launcher, not this Gapps package.

Gapps contains Google Launcher so i think it's directly this topic.
3: It's probably in your launcher's settings somewhere. If not, get a different launcher.

As i made a research Google Launcher should got this options like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnraO73SQgQ but it does not have one so there is my questions.

    A final farewell

They say all good things must come to an end... After 2½ years of actively updating my Gapps packages on a regular basis, the time has come for me to step aside.

I'm very proud of the work that @osm0sis and I have done in creating this new generation of GApps installers and the groundwork we laid in allowing others to carry on our work. This entire project has been Open Sourced and licensed under a GPL v3.0 license which guarantees that all current and future development must remain Open Source and free to use by anyone who wants to use our code (See GPL v3 for complete deails).

I'd like to thank @Chainfire for his pioneering work in zip file shell scripting. Without his work to analyze, none of this would likely have happened. I'd also like to thank @osm0sis for partnering with me on the last part of this journey. The value he provided me goes far beyond his immense code contributions. His wisdom and advice behind the scenes has also been greatly valued.

Thanks, also , to the many thousands of users who've used these GApps over the years. Last time I checked my logs, there were over 15 million downloads of these GApps. Thanks for trusting us with your valuable devices!

And I want to thank @TKruzze for all of his time, hard work and the lasting effect his contributions have had on the Android community! I wish him all the best. :)

As a final parting gift, in addition to the full 2015-10-15 beta I reposted above, we've also hosted a final unreleased TK GApps for KitKat that @TKruzze was maintaining privately for awhile after PA GApps.

    Enjoy, and happy flashing!

All TK GApps (formerly Official PA GApps) discussion will take place here to keep the main thread operational as a release thread for TKruzze and remove the needless clutter.

Regardless, please read the FAQ in the main thread before posting here since your answer is most likely already there.

Subscribe here if you have questions or would like to help those who have questions, or, you may simply subscribe to the main thread if you would only like notifications when TKruzze bumps the thread with a release post and want to avoid the stream of discussion here.

Thanks! Have fun, and help each other!

Or you may try to generate a config using the excellent AROMA-based "Universal PA GApps Customizer" interface created by @raulx222.

There is an excellent help team in here but feel free to @ mention me if something needs to be brought to my attention.

It's been a crazy busy week for me! I will try and post an update, along with our plans for Marshmallow in the next couple of days.
    27
By the way, any plans of creating something similar to their bloatware removal? An "official" TK script for this to be used together with GApps would be superb!

I'm working on something new and cool that you will probably like.
