[Q] Active Microphone problems

Does anyone else with an Xperia Active ST17i have problems being heard on phone calls?

Lots of people tell me they can hardly hear me when I use this phone unless I use a hands free kit.

I'm thinking it must be something to do with the waterproofing, and I'm wandering if there's a simple fix?
