Has anyone activated the phone ordered from A.W.?

Today I received a shipping notice from A.W. with the following activation guide.

"...

How to activate your newly upgraded phone

1. Before you begin, follow the instructions in the owner's manual to charge your phone's battery.
2. Make sure your phone is turned off, and install the AT&T SIM card provided with your order (if your device came with a pre-installed SIM, please replace it with the one provided separately in your order).
3. In order to ensure your phone, plan, and service options are activated correctly, you must call AT&T from another phone at 1-866-895-1099, where you will be guided through the activation process.
4. Turn on your new phone. In about 15 minutes you'll receive a text message on your new phone notifying you of activation.
..."

I'm wondering if I can say I want to keep my grandfathered unlimited data plan in step 3 or just activate the phone first and call 611 later to get the old plan back.

I'll greatly appreciate it!

I'd call first and definitely ask to talk to a supervisor. I've heard stories about regular sales messing up and then not being able to get the unlimited back. ASk for a supervisor, dont do it automated.

Just a thought, not 100% sure if this would work, but what would happen if you put in the new SIM but instead of doing automated activation, just call and update your IMEI. All they really need to know is the IMEI of the device you're using, right? Tell them not to change anything on your plan just that you're changing devices. I think that would work but not 100% sure.

call att customer care, and tell them that your buying a new phone through amazon and want to keep your grandfathered plan

have them notate your account saying this ( idid it twice)

when you get your new phone from amazon call att customer care,

they will take the new phones imei, and tell them you want to keep your unlimited plan
