I know the S4 and S5 are out now, are they instantly a better upgrade to the S3? Is the amount of development the same, if not better than the S3? If I have the option to upgrade to the S5, should I take it?

There are many other better phones on the market now. I would look at the LG G3.

I'll be sticking with my GS3, at least for a while yet.
For now, I just see no need to change, and just cause it's newer wouldn't necessarily mean better, as I am sure you know :D
The GS3 still has some good DEVs working on stuff for it, it's a good stable phone IMO, although some may disagree.
Overall though I like it, and I am comfortable with it, and I guess that would be my biggest thing is how comfortable I am with it.

My step dad recently got one of the HTC M8's, and while it does look pretty sweet, I didn't like it too much when I was helping him set it up.
As soon as it came out the box it was having issues with the volume down button getting stuck so when he would try to power it on, it would power up like he was trying to hard reset it lol. I'm not that big on change xD

If you are gonna go with a new phone, id go with the note line personally. If u are hung up on samsung. Otherwise there are better options. But if you have an s3 already its plenty capable of doing what you want

Don't see a reason to switch right now. With maintenance, I can stay with 16g internal memory and love being able to mod the Samsung. I would only upgrade based on hardware (3g ram, more internal storage, better processor, etc). It would also be a phone that I could root/unlock....

I understand your dilemma. I have an SIII and it's a fantastic phone, especially after rooting. I could upgrade to the S5 but apart from the bigger screen and camera there's not a lot that it offers that I can't do on the SIII.
