I am looking for a 'not-so-complicated' tried and tested root process for AT&T Samsung Galaxy Active i537, Android Version 4.3, Build Number ending with ML2.

I have tried Active Root and some other options discussed in other forums, none of them have worked for me.

Happy to pay $100 for a reliable root process.

Hi whizzy. Unfortunately, as I have seen by your post and you know, everyone is looking and trying to work on it. All we can do is wait, or you can give it a try yourself.
