I have been using my Atrix since 2011. I am on my 2nd and 3rd handsets now.

All was as happy as could be on #2 with Olympus and it was wonderful with Waze. then one day the GPS faded. I tried all varieties of apps and finally set her aside. I eventually got her flashed in a shop back to Original Factory and all was well. Until, between the combo of the ATT update and Waze... GPS had again failed.

Symptom? It will not find any satellite. I said ok, the GPS module is dead and got a new phone. Fresh refurb. It was happy until I ran the update again and had Waze installed. No GPS.

As I have been troubleshooting systems for the better part of 40 years I kinda have a clue, and I have tried many after apps and procedures to no avail. GPS will not find a satellite.

I'm looking for a true ATT factory rom solution to take handset #2 back to play and test to find the break. ATT is a fail as is Motorola for anything but the source posted on Sourceforge. But that is not the same.

If someone here has seen or encountered this, I would appreciate hearing from you.

If not, is there anyone that can flash me back cheaply? The last round was a crisp $100

BTW: The initial failure happened in Late September-October 2014

ok,
if its a software problem, you can check this details:

i recomanded work with "ES File explorer" app, cause not all the apps can grant the rights to change the file as needed.
1. open the ES File explorer app
2. open to the main menu of the app on the left upper corner, and drill down till "root explorer", turn it to "on".
3. Go to /system/etc/ and search for a file named gps.conf.
4. Open it with "ES Note Editor" and modify this:

NTP_SERVER=europe.pool.ntp.org

instead of "europe.pool.ntp.org" you have to write your location settings.
Example:
if I'm in Angola than i will modify the line to look like this:
NTP_SERVER=ao.pool.ntp.org
so find your country server parameters.
big caountries have more than one NTP SERVER.

5. the all file have too look like this:
NTP_SERVER=europe.pool.ntp.org
XTRA_SERVER_1=http://xtra1.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_2=http://xtra2.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_3=http://xtra3.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
SUPL_HOST=supl.google.com
SUPL_PORT=7276

6. exit from editing this file, and be sure that it has been saved.
7. restart your device.
8. you can download "GPS status" app, and lunch it, wait 1-2 minute for first time synchoronizing with sattelights.

please upadte if it helped....
good luck.
