Hi

I have a problem with my HTC Aria. A few months ago it stopped charging the battery fully - no matter how many hours I connect the charger it always charges only to about 50%. For months now I didn't see the green light which indicates a fully recharged battery.

I've tried everything:
* charge and discharge fully
* a new battery
* a few chargers and cables
* factory reset
* clean the battery stats using 'recovery'
* run calibration app
* search the forums for any other idea
but nothing helps.

Please help...
Thanks,
Nadav

Guys,

I'm desperate - unless I'll find a solution to this I will have to buy a new phone...
If there's anyone with any other idea of how to fix this please reply.

Thanks,
Nadav

Make sure that your chargers are able to deliver sufficient power. For best results, the charger should consistently deliver 700mA or more. The original HTC charger is rated at 1A. Otherwise, the battery will not charge and the status LED will remain yellow. Most of the common USB chargers will only deliver 500ma.

To complicate things, the ratings on the charger's label may not be accurate and the actual power output is less than what is listed. For example, I have a charger that's rated at 500ma and it barely is able to charge the battery. If I am actively using the phone (navigation, talking, etc.), the battery will drain even with the charger connected and the battery symbol shows "charging".

Sorry, a bit off topic. I haven't had any battery issues yet, but mine came with a spare. Would it be better to leave it alone until i do have battery issues our swap between the two?

Thanks for the answers,
But this is not the battery nor the charger - I've tried a new battery and a handful of chargers, including some original ones.

As a last resort I would try doing a factory restore with the RUU and see what it does. As long as you keep you're nandroid backup you can always get back to where you were. If that doesn't do it, it's probably the phone.
