While battery meters are often incorrect I'm basing my experience on the fact that my phone is still powered on. lol any other Android device I've had would have been toast by now. Mine is still showing 40%.

That is helpful too, but I think I was pretty unclear with my question.

Is there a way to disable the 3g radio only, but keep Edge and GPRS to save battery life like the option to disable 3G on the iPhone?

Thanks!

Yeah, I unplugged my phone 13hrs ago. Still going strong with my juice just dropping to 30%. Perhaps people with poor performance haven't changed their launchers?

Yes, sorry my post wasn't directed to you, it was more about the thread in general, where in the OP he says that it's "already dropped to 90%". The "battery drain" article on Android Police explains this thing very clearly. So basically, what I meant is that it's not because it goes from 100% to 90% in an hour that battery life sucks. It's a huge battery in the Atrix, and even though it has to power a higher-def screen and a dual-core, I'd be very surprised if it didn't last a good whole day of somewhat intensive use without a charge.

My phone lasted for 8 hrs of medium use( 2 hrs phone calls & 1 hr web/market use) yesterday & today it died after 12 hrs with 1-2 hrs of use, no phone calls. So far, it looks like a typical power hungry andriod phone, don't see that 1930mAH performance yet. I guess that dual core CPU is draining the battery? I am hoping that the battery will get better after few days.

Might be certain apps not closing that's draining the battery? I know one time my battery was almost dead in less than an hour. I checked the battery usage and saw Yelp using 95% CPU. Added that and a few other programs to the auto-end list.

When I got the phone, left it off and charged it to a 100%. On my first charge, it lasted about 23 hours. Used it till it shut off. Now I just charged it to full last night, then did the on, then off, then on thing that's recommended for all android phones (while charging).

I'll report back how it does after that.

When I first got my Captivate, the battery maybe lasted about 15 hours. So far I'm pretty happy with this.

I don't understand how people can make threads like [battery not lasting.. blah blah] 1 or 2 days after the launch of a phone.

I mean, we are on a "semi advanced" forum and we all now that battery life cycle improves slowly after days.

Feed the troll....

My battery ran down to 10% by the time I went in to watch a movie with my kids last night, but I figured I'd leave it on and see what happens.

With Exchange AS set to push, WeatherBug, and lord knows what else turned on, I figured the phone would shut itself off half way through the movie.

Much to my surprise, it kept working through the movie, for the 45 minute drive home and enough to make 2 x 5 minute phone calls. That's about 3 hours of use and a couple calls after it showed 10%.

Wonder if it takes a couple of days for the phone to calibrate to the battery!?
