I have been using my stock N.C. to reformat my SD card - while I learned how to load up and upgrade CM7 and kernals - on my Card.

I'd like to explore the option of rooting the EMMC and getting familiar with CWM - to learn ROOTING - and swapping out ROM's a bit more.

I don't want to mess up my cards and get them all from 8 GB and 16 GB - down to 117MB cards b/c of Formatting from using Win32 disk imager

Is there another way to reformat a MicroSD card besides using my Nook. B/c if I start tinkering with the internal software - I'll be losing that option.

Thanks

There isn't a big deal with using the image files as long as you have a competition partition manager. People and I have been using Easeus and haven't really had any problems with using that program to manage partitions and it can format etc.

You only need to have the hardware reader for the SD card, a lot come with some sort of usb reader device or a fullsize card that has a slot in it for the micro to slip in and be a transition point.

Is THIS what you're referring to ?

I'm not looking to use re-use an image - as much as wiping sd card clean to start over with a card so that has its full storage capacity. As I mentioned - I'm currently using the NOOK COLOR - to clear cards whenever I want to start something from scratch. If I swap out the ROM's - I'm figuring I'd lose that ability from stock nook software.

got that covered already.
